Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

I wouldn't be too worried. If you are unlucky, all that may happen is you need a tow and the service tech forces a regen then applies the TSB. Worst case it happens twice and they replace the dpf.

Not too worried? Wow, you are more laid back about a known fault that causes significant inconvenience than me.....

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

Significant? The regen only takes 30 mins, once you are at the dealer. Sure I'll be put out if it happens, but its not unfixable.

Waiting for a new dpf would be a pain, but in most cases it seems a forced regen and a TSB flash does the trick.

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

It would be pretty significant if you're a good 3-4 hours away on a road trip. Something you'd expect JGC should have picked up on by now...especially when its happening on a brand new $70k vehicle.

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

I'm with GM on this one. Given the use our Cheap gets, the statistical probability is that a limp event will occur a fair distance from home, and most likely with a caravan or boat behind it. It would therefore be a major headfu... ummm... inconvenience.

Cheers,
Steve

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

Sure, if it happened on a trip that would be painful. But I don't let the potential of that occurring stop me from driving it. I've had my toyota breakdown 200km from home and it had to get towed. It was an inconvenience, but not the end of the world.

Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

Significant if I'm halfway up the coast, family on board at 2am on Boxing Day towing a boat (how's that for melodramatic!). I get it that cars breakdown - the luck of the draw. But this is a known, reasonably regular failure, where dealer response and knowledge is patchy at best. For JA to not take the issue seriously is inexcusable.

Let's hope it doesn't happen to me down in the middle of Dunsborough on a 40degree day...

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

I've heard via the grapevine (aka DB and his contact at Jeep) that a new software update came out on Thursday (13/11).........though they are not sure if this will work, so are not applying it to all DPF breakdowns. Dealerships received this on Thursday.

Of course, my car went in to Limp mode on Wednesday night, so was at the dealers Thursday - not sure if it got the update. I'll be giving them a call tomorrow.

JA apparently are changing some of the filters - though the contact couldn't say what process they were using to help decide who got a replacement or not.

He was aware of that there seems to be a cluster of builds that were causing the problem - and went as far as saying it was MY14. My DB was impressed that I actually could give him rough timelines from the info on here.

So - it seems we are no further nearer to identifying the problem.

My strategy now is - find out whether my JGC was updated, if not why not? Then talk to them when it comes up to it's next service - or if it happens again

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

Edited out, however -

There is no specific month cluster that would point to a specific component failure during that period. It is across the board regardless of build date.

Checking on Milous' WK2 thread, I cannot find a TSB that was released on the 13/11 relating to this issue.

Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

Wow, impressive work. You should post that on the JA Facebook site and send it to Glenn Jones too and ask for an explanation. If you are feeling real cheeky you could send it to Mike Manley in the states too. And maybe DFT.
