Fuel is not the problem. It may well be the cause, but it is not the problem. The problem, if it turns out to be fuel related, is that Jeep have released a car that cannot handle fuel available in Australia.

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

Can anyone tell me how long a regen should last from start to finish?

I notice with mine that every 800-1000kms the instant consumption will jump about 2L over normal. Driving on freeway at 100-105km/h the instant normally reads 6 and jumps to 8-9 and this normally lasts for maybe 5-10kms at most.

Would be nice if the dash actually showed how full the DPF was and when a regen is taking place.

I believe it is about 20 mins, but I guess it depends how much soot is there to burn. Do you notice engine temp increasing at the same time?

Thats one thing I did not check. I'll take note of the normal operating temp and compare it next time I notice the increase in fuel usage.

Does your engine temp go up? If so is it a big jump?

There is a lot of useless info of the GC dash. For example, I am pretty sure the oil life indicator is based on a 20000km change cycle yet we need to change it every 10k. Wish they actually had something about the DPF. I'd like to know if the regens are actually happening and completing successfully.

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

I have no idea, I have a theory it will go up, because combustion temps should be increasing during the burn. But I can't work out if mine has ever done a regen. I'm just over 5k now, but I do a lot of short drives with a fairly heavy right foot..... so I'm guessing it will want to be doing a regen soon.

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

I wonder if there is a temp sensor on the DPF or exhaust close by that can be monitored?

I'll try my ODB2 dongle and see if the Torque app works with the GC and if there are any interesting sensors to log.

Mine is upto 4000kms and i have noticed the increased fuel used about 3 times already. Daily I do about 40km at 100km/h and this is where I have seen the increase each time.

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

Excursion Diesel has done a bit of work on this, there are a few posts about where he is monitoring for regens, here's one:

Ecodiesel specific PID's?

Oh, and this one from MBDiesel:
EGT1 is PID 78 on my Torque setup. It seems to be pre-turbo EGT as it reacts very quickly to throttle input and climbs to 1300F at WOT.

CAT B1S1 is somewhere downstream of the DPF. It reacts much more slowly and hardly ever makes it above 1000F except during a regen where it will move around anywhere between 1000F and 1300F. I have my Torque display to alert when it climbs above 1000 to let me know when a regen is in progress. The only other time it climbs above that level is when I'm towing the travel trailer up a mountain grade.
Good OBD II App

I might have to invest in something.

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

Thanks Benn0.

I'll have a play around with the Torque app and see that I can get.

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

I just bought the dongle and app so I could check for codes before going to the dealer with problems. I'm sure there's been instances where they've cleared codes then said that they didn't find any...

Which dongle did you go for? And have you had any luck monitoring for regens?

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

I bought the second cheapest. Not the transparent blue one... the slightly longer back one.

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/251564697212

I haven't made any effort to check for signs of regeneration. I checked it worked and then chucked it in the gluvvie. I've got a few things spoiling life at the moment, so am not getting a chance to play with toys just now.

Cheers,
Steve
