Could be all that diesel in the oil.....

I dont know why jeep doesn't do a forced regen as part of the service. It seems to be a standard thing on many other makes with DPF'S.

I cannot say I believe him that a car off the boat would already be sooted up, but he was confident this was correct. I mentioned that people have had problems after they had the dealer reset the regen, but he said they have not done it correctly.
What a load of rubbish. Mine went perfectly for 22,000 kms then has gone into limp mode three times over five weeks. No prior warning just the usual needs to be driven at highway speed warning followed immediately by going to limp mode. Extremely worrying as even if this was to happen with some warning where do you find a highway if you are off road some distance. It is supposed to be an off road vehicle not just a Toorak Tractor. It is not fuel quality as after the first occasion this was blamed and fuel tested ok and only used best quality fuel thereafter. Not just short trips either as two of the three times it occurred was after extensive highway driving. Currently have been without the vehicle since the 11th December and have no idea when it will be back. The PCM has been sent to Sydney for the boffins to work on??? but they are currently away for the Christmas break. We can't as we can't tow the caravan with the hire car provided. They are working on a software fix, but if all that does is to give me earlier warning of when it is about to occur and that continues to occur every 200 or 300 kms, then the vehicle will still not be fit for the purpose for which it was sold to us. This is the second Christmas holidays we have missed because of this vehicle. Last Christmas it was a wiring harness problem that occurred after 5 kms from delivery. Not happy Jan.

I'm not surprised, what a great Xmas present. I had this happen to me twice around the 16k kms mark. I wrote a formal letter to my dealer pointing out (as you did ) that the vehicle was not fit for purpose, and sent an email copy to Glen Jones at Fiat Chrysler Glenn.Jones@chrysler.com.

After a week or 2 they arranged to replace my DPF. I haven't had any trouble since, - up around 30k now. Others on the forum have had their DPFs replaced also.

Stick it up your dealer and make not fit for purpose noises.

Good Luck

However, just prior to that, had done some beach driving and on level sand had the low oil alarm on take off.(car working a bit hard) Restarted car, all good.
Car will be at dealers tomorrow totally stuffing holiday plans.
Oil is sounding like it might be a culprit?
You're scaring me Jeepless.

The Overland is going in for its 40,000kms service on Monday. So far no DPF failure and not a hint of it happening (ie: the regen) via the EVIC.

Oil life is sitting at 52% which is normal for my service intervals. I've tracked them for 10, 20 and 30,000 and the range within those, falls between 54-51% and then service.

Oil up to 30,000kms was Shell Helix Ultra which was swapped over at that service to Havoline. I expect Havoline to continue with the 40,000 service.

I hope I haven't jinxed myself.

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

The oil life on the dash is calculated based on 20000kms chance cycle, which makes no sense to me.

For those who are getting regen in progress messages, what do you see and on what screen?

I can tell when mine is doing a regen due to fuel usage but never get anything on the dash.

It appears on the EVIC. It doesn't matter what you are displaying, it still shows up and stays there until you change the screen. You can then make it reappear by going to the message screen.
Ours did it again a few weeks ago where it came up with a message saying "Exhaust Regeneration in progress. XX% Completed"
I didn't notice any increase in instantaneous fuel consumption. It stayed on for about 10 min. We were stopped at a set of traffic lights when it first came on, and we were approching the freeway on ramp when it completed the cycle. Average speed we were traveling during the cycle would have been 80km/h. There were 2 or 3 stops at traffic lights during the regen.

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

Add my vehicle to the list of DPF failures, it was flat bedded to the dealer yesterday as it was in limp mode. For anyone compiling statistics my April 2013 build has 42,000klm of which 90% is highway, oil level was on full and I had about 10 seconds warning before it went into limp mode.
The service manager did say they have just received a software fix and it would be installed in my car, apparently after the drive at highway speed alarm activates it gives you 10 minutes before limp mode takes effect. Considering I was driving at highway speed when the alarm activated I'm not very confident in my case that this fix will be effective.

10 minutes isn't going to do much when your on some inland track at Fraser....

"Jeep owners have long known that Go Anywhere, Do Anything® is a way of life — not just a campaign slogan."

Didn't Toyota get into some trouble when they advertised the Hilux as unbreakable?

Vehicle went straight to limp mode. 100% filter full. Now got 30900kms. Same as when it had 16600kms in March. No warning and have done 2 trips to Sydney in last few weeks 2400kms. Most kms have been highway. Was trucked to Dubbo 170kms away on Friday 2/1/15. Went into Limp mode on 31/12/14. Rang Jeep all on holidays. Nothing can be done until they return maybe on Monday 5/1/15. Was told when force burn and computer update done in March that it was fixed and wouldnt happen again. Told service manager we have never seen a filter regen showing up on screen since we have had jeep now 16 months. they blame Bp fuel last time. Have been using Caltex so who knows what will get the blame now? Have now lost all faith in this vehicle. We brought it to go up north towing a caravan for a few months. Thats why we brought a diesel. Will try to get DPF filter replaced this time round.

Exactly the same as my reason for buying a JGC. All these dpf failure stories are going to make me paranoid if I'm out Woop Woop somewhere towing the van.

You see so many of these on the road nowadays it would be nice to see some stats on just how many have encountered this dpf issue. If the risk percentage is low then it would at least give the rest of us some peace of mind.

Has anyone tried the Penrite DPF cleaner to clear the DPF? If so has it been effective in reducing the incidence of these vehicles going into limp mode.
