Could this issue be with the brand of diesel that is used?

I changed from Caltex to BP for the last 4 or 5 tanks of fuel.

They keep blaming fuel. I was using BP last time it went Limp. Have been using Caltex since and guess what they are blaming now.....Caltex fuel.

Jeep service have been trying to blame diesel quality for this problem in the past, but I don't see how it is causing it. If you are driving on the highway it should be clearing itself.

Latest theory that makes some sense to me is the oil level being too high, have you had an oil change recently?

I've had fuel quality and driving short distances blamed for these failures but it is niether. It could be either the regeneration process or the oil level or a faulty component (Pressure sensor or the like) the three times it has happened to me is within the first kilometer of a cold start.

Had a service done on the 12/12/14 - 30000km. Limp mode on the 31/12/14, 30933kms. Most trips done in this vehicle are long highway. Didn't get a chance to check oil level as i was at work when truck took it to Dubbo unlike the Jeep people who were on Holidays.

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

Well supposedly Jeep Chrysler has sent a letter to all the service departments telling them to keep the oil level a few mm below the MAX line when doing an oil change. Apparently this fouls up the regen process if the oil level is too high. This is from someone who posts on the AJOR site and says he has a copy of the letter.... Seems to be a lot of these regen failures happening shortly after an oil change, and it makes some sense that it is affecting the MY14, from my understanding the sump is different compared to MY13 and earlier.

If that is the issue they should be replacing the dip sticks with new lower level markings. Only one persn working on break down issues today. Still waiting for response so service manager can fix or order parts.

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

It also makes sense from my point of view in that the three times it has happened was after a cold start when the oil would have fully drained into the sump. But the first time it occurred was after about 10,000 kms out from oil change and no topups in the interim. The other explanation is that the engine is attempting a regeneration and adding fuel for a burnoff and hence raising the oil level in the sump. I have read of this occurence for other vehicles. In the end though I guess it is all speculation on our part.

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

I've just picked up the Jeep from the service centre with the latest software for the DPF installed. The service manager described the update as a fix not a patch up and would be installed on all vehicles when they came in for a service or warranty work. He also said they had proved early on it wasn't oil level related, I didn't ask how they had proved it.

There should be a software update number, is it on the paper work, or are you able to ask them what the number was? It would help the rest of us get the required update installed.

ok: this one just got updated on Dec 19:

The more information you can post I'm sure would be appreciated by others effected. Which dealer? Managers name? Copy of the job sheet?

Or could it be this one? which was updated on 18 Dec.

http://www.wk2jeeps.com/tsb/tsb_wk2_1801914a.pdf

it specifically mentions " - MIL light illuminates and DTC P2463-00 “Diesel Particulate Filter- Soot
Accumulation” set in the PCM"

I'd like to get this one done as it also supposedly adresses the "excessive rattle"
"Customer may experience a "detonation" type of noise while accelerating or at idle"

I was just going to post this Steve.

I just picked up our Overland from its 40,000 service and Narellan have applied that TSB today (without me asking nor have I had the DPF issue).

Could be the one - here's hoping.
