Certainly hope this update sorts it out once and for ALL. Haven't had the DPF issue but the excessive clatter on occasion well and truly. What I don't understand is that there are no fault codes displayed with the excessive clatter, associated with a rough running engine that is well down on power until the clatter stops. Will have this update done but would like to here if this update works as Jeeps track record with this latest round is not impressive.

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

Well finally found out what has happened to my PCM it was sent back to Jeep as a returned part so went to a warehouse by Toll road and there it has sat until I got on my high horse with them today. Seems that the software update released on the 19th December will definitely fix the problem according to Arron Balthazaar at Fiat Chrysler in Melbourne. There was a glitch in the software that was misreading the actual state of the DPF at least that is the latest. He guarantees that it will fix the problem. The software fix will be applied to all MY14 Jeeps when they come in with the problem or when they come in for a service. It is not a recall , so that anyone without this fix will be subject to it happening until such time as the vehicle is towed in or gets a service. I can see some other poor owners having bad experiences before this happens. He actually maintains that Customer Care was working over the Christmas break. I know some have asked for the email for Customer relations it is aucustomercare@fcagroup.com. Hopefully mine will be fixed in the foreseeable future.

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

Picked my vehicle up this afternoon due to the rectification of the DPF fault. Like it has been previously said they installed the fix
RRT 14-104. The service advisor told me that this will fix the the DPF and limp mode fault. Only time will tell.

Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

JA said the sand failure fix on the MY12/13 would be applied on routine service - it wasn't. So don't hold your breath. Hope yours is fixed now once and for all.

Agree with GMWK2. Don't expect this TSB to be applied as a matter of course. Lucky for me it was (Thank you Narellan) but it wasn't until I got home and found it on WK2Jeeps that I found the reference to the DPF. It is the third item listed when you look at it.

As a rule of thumb, TSBs are only applied when a customer cites an issue.

Regardless of whether you are due for service or not, I would print out a copy of it and get thee to your service centre (printed copy in hand) and have it applied forthwith.

And just adding, if this small group gets it applied, then that can become the 'benchmark position' for the DPF issue within this thread.

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

When I rang the dealer this morning to enquire when the Jeep would be ready, they told me that as well as the TSB for the DPF there were 2 outstanding updates to do while it was there. One being TSB 14-089 and recall P67. There was no prompting on my part.

When it was serviced 2 mths ago they also carried out all outstanding recalls and TSB's, again without asking.

10k service tomorrow will be interesting to see what happens, I have raised the rattle at low revs so probably will happen but let's see.

I'd like to get this one done as it also supposedly adresses the "excessive rattle"

Ahhh, yes. That must be it....

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

Hi Benn0, My problem with this software fix is that according to FCA customer relations it will only be applied when a vehicle comes in with the problem - ie limps in or is towed. If not it will be applied at the next service. All very well if you live in Melbourne or somewhere near a dealer but not to good if you are on Cape York and it stuffs up your trip. They are supposed to be go anywhere vehicles not Toorak Tractors.

If you are declined, simply request that this is formally acknowledged on your service printout.

Cheers,
Steve

Yep, this was a similar problem with the sand 4wd serv failure. Many service centers wouldn't apply the fix unless you had first experienced a failure. But some service centers will (as SJandL has suggested with this update), I guess if I was planning on a long trip somewhere I'd be ringing around asking if they will apply the update despite not having the failure until I found someone who would do it. I'll probably ask about it at my next service and see what they say.

edit: my guess is that many service centers will apply it to minimise the workload of angry Jeep owners getting towed for manual regens....

Yes the one released on the 18th is whats being updated today after forced regeneration. Said Jeep wont come to the party of new DPF. About $5000 for P.Filter. so should be going this afternoon. Now the fight begins to get it back the 170kms. Didnt know about update on 19th. So hope this fixes the problem. Said update lets the computer read different fuels quality and blends. Winter summer additives ect.
