Especially with the current diesel pricing!

Slightly cheaper here in Sydney. I can get Caltex Vortex diesel for $1.33 but petrol owners can pick up Vortex 98 for $1.15. Normally 98 and diesel are around the same price. So how 98 can drop by so much but not diesel??? Yes, we are mugs alright and there doesn't seem to be anything you can do about it

In Perth diesel prices don't fluctuate as much as petrol prices.

I recall when I used to pay $1.79 for BP Ultimate 98 about 12 months ago to fill the XR6T, diesel was still around $1.60 at that time. Even during the normal weekly cycle, petrol varies by about 15c from week to week, where diesel is a lot more consistent.

We are paying around 1.37 for diesel right now in Brissie.

Just when I thought I was in the clear it struck.

Lucky I was only 2km from home. Usual scenario message flashed up to drive at highway speed, then into limp mode, limiting to 60kph.

June 2013 build. 32,668km. Always used Caltex Vortex Diesel. 80% of driving is highway, done about 10000km of towing 2tonne caravan.

Will be towed tomorrow.

Sorry to hear of this you would think that by the time you got to that distance you would be safe. I too tow a caravan and it happened to me just after I returned from a trip. Customer Service assure that the 19th December update will fix the problem so lets hope so.

An interesting side note. I was talking about it to my brother in law, who bought a Jeep just after I did, his has done 30,000 k's with no problems, so he took it in for a service last Wednesday and the dealer informed him that the 19th December update was not necessary for his JGC because his VIN number wasn't in the range for it to be applied to. Comparing VIN's his was built in July 2013, like mine and yours and his build number is only 34 greater than mine, so how are Jeep determining if the update is to be applied? Or is it only applied when the vehicle is towed in? Are they trying to avoid a recall? Who knows, but it isn't good for those owners waiting to see if is going to happen to them.

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

I think that this "out of VIN range" response is a common line. I'd very much like to see the official range of VINs, and compare that to some of the vehicles which have had the update applied due to failure. In fact, if the range is relatively small, then those vehicles most likely have a physical defect which shouldn't be patched up by "blowing out" certain operating parameters in firmware.

I can't help suspecting that CheapAU really only want to cough up the small cost for the dealer's time if you've actually had the problem.

If only we could obtain some quality information on the root cause.

Cheers,
Steve

Before it gets towed, and once settled, can you check the oil level to see if near max or slightly over.

I had mine service last week and they did the PCM update as part of the service.

Are we supposed to see a message when the regen is occurring? Mine never has.
Should the dealer be able to tell if any regens have occurred when they 'plug in their computer thingingy'.

Watching some Youtube vids on how DPF works, some have mentioned that due to the cleaner fuels and high temperature of a turbo diesel motor, a regen may not even occur or may only happen after a long amount of kms. Perhaps my constant highway driving and towing has taken a while to fill the filter.
