Steve, if you are interested, here is some more info if you are interested in reading the US DPF thread:
exhaust system regeneration process

This bit is from *sox* who works for someone related to Jeep/Fiat or something:

exhaust system regeneration process
The PCM starts the regeneration of the DPF if the soot load exceeds a performance map value. The PCM determines the load condition of the DPF based upon the exhaust gas pressure upstream and downstream of the DPF. A pressure differential sensor provides the pressure input to the PCM. During the regeneration process, the PCM raises the temperature in the DPF to burn off the soot accumulated. Under normal operation, the engine does not produce enough heat to oxidize the soot inside the DPF. This process requires temperatures above 550 C (1,022 F). After regeneration, the PCM reads the actual pressure difference at the DPF and compares it with a reference value. From this comparison, the PCM determines the ash quantity inside the DPF.
As far as EVIC messages go, SNUKE posted this one, OZ car:

This is a US car:

Also, this was another snippet of info from the thread that is useful:

It would appear that the Oil Life Counter is a CRITICAL COMPONENT to regen. The techs could not find anything wrong with my jeep, other than the fact that the counter wasn't reset 2 weeks ago. This triggered a CEL after about a week (they didn't get into whether or not it is mileage based), and it then refused to regen.

Perhaps I have an American car.
I have to reset the oil life as per yank steps.
Have had DAB on the Unconnet from day dot despite regular updates.

Just received a sms that my car is ready. Shouldn't Jeep Assist tow it back to my place?

Shouldn't the service center be doing that when they change the oil?

Yeah I think that's actually a fair request. Obviously it will be argued, however the fact that some people have received this service should mean it is available to all.

I guess the downside is that you don't get to attend the service centre to pick up some more comedic explanations regarding the background of the underlying fault and the permanent repair which has been carried out. This material entertains... I mean educates us all, and as such should be documented for posterity whenever possible.

Cheers,
Steve

He's in the middle of a Regen cycle and can't stop !!

"Are we there yet?"
"no son, a bit further"

Eventually he runs out of road where it ends at the ocean and the regen must have finished as he says, " ahh.. glad we bought a Jeep" <sarcasm?>

Sounds tempting Steve...but no.

I brought out the big guns and got my wife to deal with it. She called Jeep head office, a female's plight must have won them over. Should be delivered back home either today or tomorrow.

But in all fairness dealer is 50km away no public transport or ability for us to pick up.

Maybe I should get her to complain about my reverse camera...

I'm going to prepare for the inevitable....

I'll get a sign made up "Can't slow - DPF regen in progress" to hold up to the authorities when they try to pull me over doing 110 in a 60 zone.....

....and another one "Can't go any faster - in limp mode" when they try to pull me over doing 60 in a 110 zone.

One owner was told by their service department they had to drive atleast 109kph to regen. I suggested he get that in writing and show it to the police when they pull him over.
