Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

[QUOTE=GMWK2;1141312]Still a complete joke. Try this scenario:

So I'm 5 minutes from my carpark in the city, 10 minutes till I'm due at meeting with a client. "Regen, keep driving" message comes up. So I ring my client and say, "sorry, I'm going to be late - I cannot stop my car". So I try and keep driving but it is peak hour and I'm stopped in traffic. Car goes onto limp mode and dies on George Street.

What utter ridiculousness. Jeep should be panned for selling a car with a clear design flaw.

Vent over.

Hi GMWK2,

I had this issue with my 2013 JGC. Turned out to be a failed temp sensor in the DPF which of course didn't relay the info on regen to the computer. MY DPF was 160% full but sorted quite quickly by the dealer.

Pete

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

Yes, I think the older model dpf issues are more likely to be a failed sensor or a kink in a hose, etc, than the large scale issue we are seeing with the MY14, which appears to be software related.

Gorgeous Brilliant Black Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit WK MY14 - 3.0L DTFI DTV6
I love her !
So Sad - she is back at the service centre. Exhaust Filter warning without the warning - straight into limp mode ! 7 weeks ago same deal - of course with no written information anywhere in the manual about this feature (of course no mention by Sales when buying) we learnt the hard way. But seriously - we have had 8 over 45min trips (one way) we did return which makes it 16 in those 7 weeks and still no regen took place ? Come on ! This is nuts. I need help ??

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

Has the dealer applied the 19th December 2014 software update, which Jeep Australia assure is going to fix the problem. I have mine back after the third trip in for DPF problem, the last time it was in for 1 month. To be honest we no longer trust it to go anywhere far will need to see it run up a few kilometers to see if this new "fix" fixes it.
Hopefully it does. The thing that really gets to me is, they won't do the fix unless your vehicle goes into limp mode after DPF faulting OR if your VIN number falls within the "range" which they don't specify. My Brother-in-law's has a VIN just 34 greater than mine but when it was serviced earlier this month and they asked the dealer to ensure it was done he was tole his vehicle wasn't in the VIN range. So for an unspecified number of owners they have to wait for the DPF fault to occur before Jeep will do anything about it. They apparently don't care if they inconvenience their owners apparently.

The December 18th update is the one that adresses the the rattly/knock engine noise and the DTC P2463-00 "soot accumulation" being set

it says it applies to:

I think that applies to pretty much all the MY14 deisels here which are Euro5 emissions.
There's no date range on it like some of the other TSB and recalls.

The VIN isn't in range line for this one sounds to me like BS if it is an MY14

I told my dealer that I had the Rattly knocking noise in the engine which developed after about 2000k and booked it in to have the update earlier this month.
It is in their system as an "Rapid Response transmittal" RRT 14-104 and they did it for me under warranty in about an hour.

1000 km later, no rattly noise.
I haven't had any DPF issues.

I took my MY14 diesel (Feb 14 build) in for the P64 recall a couple of weeks ago. I was going to ask them about the RRT 14-104 but they already had it on the job sheet. I haven't had any diesel rattle/DPF issues before or after, not that I've done many kms since. Hopefully won't.

That's right, they should be doing it (RRT 14-104) without having to ask and it doesn't have a manufacture date like some other TSB and the recalls.

eg
P64 ESC software = MY14 JGC 3/01/13- 11/4/14

P67 OCR module = JGC 30/10/12 - 30/4/14

RRT 14-104 rattle/DPF/cruise control = WK2 MY14 Diesel(EXF), export spec emissions(NA1) no date range, so should apply to all of our MY14 diesels.

I had the RRT done but mine is manuf 7/5/14 according to the sticker on the door, so missed out on the recalls.

I had the "exhaust filter regeneration in progress. Keep driving " message come on this morning. Thankfully that is what I needed to do anyway and after about 15 -20 mins driving mainly between 60 -90 km/h and 2 stops for red lights the message turned off. Now thats a huge improvement over limp mode!

I was told by my dealer on 29 /12 /14, when having a forced regen, that the new fix for DPF was not applied so maybe they've installed the older one.
This is the 3rd DPF burn in as many months after 40000 km and 15 months ownership with no sign of any previously.
Still using the same fuel, Caltex Vortex.
The message also displayed in stored messages display on evic however there were no %full /time remain display.
Interesting to see if it needs another burn in 1mth /2500 km

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

Thanks dixonf - I did copy and paste some info of the forum and sent them to my service guy for his FYI. Lol - not sure that he was too impressed, actually said that he wished these forums didnt exist as it gives mis-information to customers. Anyway, it shows me that it is a common (bad) problem. That I would really appreciate not just a fix but a why as well. I have zero confidence in my Jeep that it could just go into limp mode without absolutely no warning. She was a huge purchase for us and Im not satisfied.

Many of us wish that the dealer service monkeys didn't exist for the same reason... which would make us even, if it wasn't for the fact that there are more of us.

Cheers,
Steve

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

Yes, well - they are currently my first point of contact with Jeep - Im hoping my last if they give me back my confidence in my gorgeous jeep. Im sure warranty work sucks for all the service centres when they no doubt already have full loads but I didnt part with my good $$$$ to have a car go into limp mode without any warning - just not good enough. She will be away for at least a week by the looks of things - they can't get a good look at her till next Monday - she went in on Tuesday morning. x

We'll I asked them to tell me how it works (or is supposed to work) and what is changed in the software or even if they could give me any information all.
No, they wouldn't.. or possibly couldn't.

There wouldn't be any "mis-information" if they'd actually cough up the real story.

The same goes for all the ECU codes, to have a peek at the sensors Some are OBDII standard but good luck trying to find any of the Chrysler/Jeep proprietary ones.
