Yes, well - they are currently my first point of contact with Jeep - Im hoping my last if they give me back my confidence in my gorgeous jeep. Im sure warranty work sucks for all the service centres when they no doubt already have full loads but I didnt part with my good $$$$ to have a car go into limp mode without any warning - just not good enough. She will be away for at least a week by the looks of things - they can't get a good look at her till next Monday - she went in on Tuesday morning. x
I've read your story and am really sorry for the trouble you are having. You say that the dealer cannot look at your car until next Monday - frankly, and I'm sure you know, this is simply not good enough! My advice is to kick and scream as much as possible - you need to DEMAND that your car be given priority for a known endemic failure with the GC. I'd be making JA in Melbourne your first point of contact - ring Glenn Jones and insist that he take over control and liaison with the numb scull dealer. You should not be left to resolve this issue with the dealer by yourself.

The 'mis-information' actually originates at the dealer service centers. What is written in this forum is repeated information that various owners are told by various service centers. Some customers are told that the oil level is the problem, some are told its a software issue that is fixed by this patch or that patch, some are told its bad diesel quality, some are told its a coating on the dpf, some are told its because they don't drive aggressively enough, etc, etc.

What would help is if Jeep Australia gave some good explanations and consistent information to their service techs, that was then passed on to customers, so we don't have to come here and filter out the BS.

Anyway, there do seem to be multiple causes here, but it looks to me that the majority should be fixed by a software update. Will the latest software update fix it? We are all hopeful.

I agree, contact Jeep Customer Care and tell them that the situation is unacceptable.

I know its a pain right now, but once they have it fixed you will be able to enjoy your Jeep again. This is the only widespread issue for this car right now, so once you are past it, things should be all good.

I couldn't agree more Benno, I have come to the conclusion that the Jeep dealers are being left in the dark as much as we are. However, I also think that they are avoiding letting anyone know the extent of the problems with the DPF and hence don't like forums that do just that. They would prefer that the buyers would just believe that they are the very odd one out. Doesn't work as the tow truck drivers can tell you how many they take in.

I did suggest that Jeep Australia would do themselves a favour if they addressed a reply to such forums to explain what is going on and what they are doing about it. No way I was told. Also it is almost impossible to get a written reply from anyone involved, they just don't want to publically admit there is a problem.

I think that if it keeps up they could be in for trouble with the ACCC over their misleading advertising.

ACCC and NCAT have simple online complaint lodgment forms - spend 10 minutes of your time and get a registration number. It takes several weeks for NCAT to take matters up but you can at least demonstrate to your dealer that you are deadly serious. Worked for me.

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

Thanks Steve, my update - flash (December software update) performed today with forced regen and I pick her up tomorrow. I will definitely let you know how I go. My Service Guy said that there has been problems and this upgrade should fix it (just bad timing that it came out only 2 weeks after it did the first time). Im praying (I'm not religious but I can't think of anything else to do) - that it does not happen again. Very keen to see some signs of active regen that it performs itself. Still feel not impressed that none of this information is anywhere to be seen in the manual ??? Samantha. x

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

Hi all. Iv got an Nov 13 build date ecodiesel grand cherokee and haven't had any dpf issues to date. The regeneration occurring message popped up once while my wife was driving and even tho she wasn't on the highway it (20min stop start city trip) it managed to complete is successfully. We've done 14,000km to date and have noticed a burning smell from the rear after a trip on at least 3 occasions over the last 10 months. We assumed it had done a regen even tho there was no message. Hope that bit of info helps! Oh and it's my wife's car so she mainly does city driving to visit friends and parents, tho do we like to drive abit further on weekends and have done 2 long range camping trips the last couple of months.

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

I also think Jeep should program a manual regen option if this issue keeps happening. It should be activated by the user by pressing some button 3 times, then activate when the vehicle is going faster than say 70kmh. If the speed drops before it finished then the regen should stop. If the automatic method isn't working as it should at least this would give us more peace of mind by giving us the ability to clear the filter before Offroad trips etc.

Don't bother, waste of your resource. JA will not wake up unless its legal complaint or class action....

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

Well I took a print out of the Audio/Nav patch in to the dealer today. Fortunately I got a very experienced Canadian service tech who has worked with Chrysler for 30 + years. He eventually logged on to Chrysler in the US and found the patch I gave him, plus one other patch, which will apparently fix a whole host of Nav system problems. (Some drivers in the Gold Coast have been directed out to sea by this system.)

It took over 2 hours to download the patches from the States.

He said that in one dealership in the Gold Coast, they were getting 5 cars in every day with DPF problems. He told me that it's a problem inherent in this kind of system, and that it's even worse in the Volkswagon diesel 4WDs.

Apparently, one of the problems is that they lie idle at the Port for 2-3 months before being shipped. Any idle periods like this will make the problem worse.

It's apparent that the recalls and other service bulletins are not being applied to new vehicles. They don't even send out letters with recalls like most manufacturers.

It might be useful to others with 2014 GCs, so here are the software patches that were applied:

RRT 14-009 and RO408143.

Yesterday, they charged me $84.70 for trying and failing to find these patches. Today I was credited for that. So I feel grateful, but also vindicated.
