Unbelievable Snuke. Which dealer is going to have the pleasure of your company?

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

Penriff gets this tomorrow morning. With any luck they will actually have time to look at it.
Tow truck finally turned up just after 6pm, the driver said he picked up another earlier in the day stuck in 4th, our was in 3rd.
Jeep assist sent a tech to asses the car first, apparently he said the good old one that it needs to be driven for a long stretch above 100kmh every month.

I had actually tuned out of this thread when Steve started providing all that detailed info, damn you and your highly detailed helpful info. So now I will go back and read it all and know it what it means.
I had nearly purchased that OBDLink MX WiFi ages ago, just after the kickstarter, but they hadn't actually hit production at that stage. Then again last week but they were out of stock. I was also considering the GoPoint BT1 or BT1A.

Haha, what did the tech do open the door and look at the dash message?

Did you slap him after his comment?

The guy that runs that tow company and I believe still drives is a good bloke though, in good hands there.

Any confirmed occurrences on MY2015 Jeeps?

Sorry, don't read all of it

The only "tricky" bit is entering the info to get the DPF% to display. Thats it.

Since then we've observed...
- Active Regen won't occur under 65% - I tried all sorts of "techniques"
- It has to be warmed up properly normal running condtions to trigger
- It will go at 65% with the right condtions, on the highway >70kph-ish.
- At about 71%-73% it will regen even at slow speed. I did 15minutes worth of regen and did <5km crawling in traffic. Was almost stationary when it triggered.
- If stopped and idling for about 3 minutes it will abort the active regen (but soot load will have partly reduced).
- A completed regen will go down to about 8% DPF load.
- Fuel consumption goes up by 1.0-1.5 L/h
- CAT temp goes up to 550-670 C range
- EGR is "locked" at 0% (ie. no exhaust recirc)

Anyway, if this software update REALLY IS the fix, in no time you'll be back to this....

I wasn't there, I started to tell the wife that's BS etc...but that was a waste of time. I got there just as it was finished loading onto the truck.

Back at post #569 and starting to read through again, this is when you started with all that stuff people call relevant information.

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

Well that was a fun read, I had actually read most of it with just the odd scan read over the fun number stuff.
Thanks to all that have contributed great info in this thread.

One thing that did stick out to me was this:

This is the first time I have seen Red use for Cold and Blue for Hot.

Ultimately I think OBD tools may be pointless as I drive the car only every few weeks, and there is no chance the misses is going to run the app and connect etc.... if I am not there.
At best I could check the car at home and see where the filter is at.

I posted this earlier in the OBD II thread, but I will post here for reference on Jeep specific things that can be done.
This is the GoPoint OBD device that will work on Bluetooth with iOS and Android of course.

Oh you're a hard man Snuke.

Checking the DPF status in the driveway would only take 5 minutes maximum... but with no reports of post-update failures, monitoring might be a waste of time. That said, I'll persist just to keep an eye on it.

Have fun with your Jeep friends mate.

Cheers,
Steve

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

I found this explanation interesting from Grandhaze in this thread:
Service Electronic Throttle Control 2014 Grand Cherokee

The problem was the computer misreading the temp increase from cold. Sensor was always ok. After the dec re-flash the car has been ok. When the techs read the computer it said sensor was faulty. Bench testing showed no fault. My 3 events always happened 4k from morning start so it was clear the temp reading range in computer was outside its permitted range and the re flash altered that range…… so they told me…….Paul
