I just went over your posts (good thing about those that don't post so much), you had the forced regen last done 13th Nov, so that was before the TSB was released. You did say a new DPF was being sent your way, and your comment today suggests it was actually replaced.
The TSB was released 18th Dec (USA) so unless you have been back in since, no dice that it was done.

Reading your original post, you were looking at a Toureg. Unfortunately there are no guarantees you would have a better run their as VWs are also having constant DPF issues at the moment.

Who is your dealer?

Heartland in Greenacre (Sydney). The service manager there should have a particular interest in this problem. When I picked up my car after the filter change (three weeks after my November post) his four week old MY15 Overland was arriving on a truck with the same issue.
At that time he was convinced that a new design filter would permanently remedy the situation.

What I've found is there is generally no interest in looking further into issues like these. Despite me giving these guys heaps of data about the problem over the time I've had the car they only seem interested in following the basic Jeep service guidelines.... If "A" occurs, do "B". It's probably a commercial decision as Jeep Australia won't cover the cost of labour for unauthorised troubleshooting.

I've said all along that the real issue with my car is that it cannot go into regen mode without tripping an engine fault. Whichever sensor or valve that first comes into play during initiation of the cycle is faulty or out of tolerance and causes limp mode even as the system continues to try and regen.

No amount of filter changes will fix that.

Who knows, maybe the SB will fix it.

Your story is the perfect example of why I do my own oil changes. In the US, I recently got a MOPAR coupon for a $50 oil change + filter (for "diesel trucks", including up to 13 liters of oil). That was idly tempting—that's about 50% of the cost of a DIY change—until I thought about scenarios like yours.

Anyway, the amusing part of this is that if your engine is the same as the NA model then it's entirely your choice whether your engine officially takes 7.6 or 7.7 liters of oil. If you read the US owner's manual you will see it takes 8 quarts or 7.7 liters of oil. Maybe Chrysler will try to redefine pi next.

Another successful regen today. Triggered with DPF at about 65.5% and back down to 8.2% again, took about 15km driving at 95-105km/h to complete.

Go outside in the pissing rain to check my dipstick, sure enough oil level beyond the highest of the dipstick

rang them back and blasted them

i kindly tell them the my13 takes 8.4litre but my14 takes 7.7l and that is dry .
not sure if they drained it and put castrol in now since they gave me back my bottle but with castrol. no apology for waste of time. tell them castrol isn't approved by jeep but the guy has no idea what I'm rattling on about
Well some feedback on this issue. On my 30K service back in December, I also provided my oil for service and provided 8 litres of Mobil and was advised I was lucky to have a spare bottle in the boot to complete the service. i thought this was odd as previously there were no issues given the MY14 didn't need any more than this. Not thinking too much of it as i was about to head off on a trip and just needed to get on the road.

I'm now at 36K on the clock and last weekend I had the DPF issue and entered into Limp Mode locked to 4th gear. I was still mobile and drove home and then off to the service department on Monday for a Regen fix and the update was applied. After reading this thread a little closer, I thought I'd check the oil level again and yes, I have too much oil in the engine. I reckon they filled it up with the older model requirements of 8.4 l so this may be the issue I had with the DPF. I regularly do highway kms but in the last 2 weeks, its just been short trips in the city. As the oil gets older and dirty, maybe with the extra pressure this has culminated with a filter that can't handle the extra oil in the engine.

I'm no engineer or mechanic, but this is simply making a judgement call based on the information contained in this thread. I know the vehicle was trying to do a region cycle as I could smell it, but couldn't get to a highway in time. But the issue still remains, I have too much oil in the engine. Do I keep the status quo and wait for the next service or take it back with a please explain.

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

ring them up and complain. i gave them 0 on their sms feedback score and politely blasted them in the comments. seriously it's not our job to tell a mechanic how to do their job. the service boss apologised and offered free oil on the next service. sure thats almost $200 worth but they use castrol oil which is non approved by jeep. i'm tossing up whether to utilise that offer. i could always take up their offer and do my own change inbetween service at a 5k mark if i'm not happy i guess

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

A couple of things here. The oil level will rise during a regen due to the post injection of fuel in the cylinders. Also, getting a clean reading of the oil level is tricky on this car. You need to be careful you aren't pulling oil up the tube before taking a reading.

And on the oil issue, I'm not concerned about the use of castrol, Mansfield uses Edge Prof OEX 5w30, which looks pretty good on the specs. FST is a closer match for Mobil1, but with 6 month changes I can live with OEX. As far as warranty claims go, I don't think they can refuse it based on the Jeep authorised dealer using it.

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

So..... Picked up the car this afternoon. Had a few back and forth phone calls with the dealer during the day about TSB's I wanted carried out while the car was there. When I arrived to pick it up, I asked which TSB's , apart from 18-019-14, had been carried out.

Guy tells me it's all automatic - when we plug the computer in, any updates the car needs, it gets. Bit my tongue (I'll discuss the updates in the appropriate area) and asked about the DPF update. Was told I won't experience the problem again.

Then says:
"Just, when your driving, put your foot down every now and again. It'll stop the filter sooting up."

At this point my vision blurs and I have an overwhelming urge to punch him in the throat.

Instead, I ask him to kindly document all TSB's that have been loaded into my car and email it me, along with any other relevant paperwork.

Will wait and see........
