Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

Hi Butts Oz, i've been getting this error intermittently since July last year. I also use Torque with a bluetooth adapter however I always keep the adapter plugged in and have never had errors while using Torque. I only get the error at start up and as mentioned it's intermittent. The guys at Jeep Moorooka have been looking at it from a software perspective although they did find badly routed wiring from the Auto by the left hand transmission tunnell which had frayed. They currently have the car with their master tech driving it with their computer plugged in to see if it will fault for him.
I'm not hopefull as they keep trying to blame software.
Have you experienced further errors with or without the adpater plugged in?
Jason

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

I noticed another angry owner has posted on the JA Facebook site photos of their GC siting on a quicklift truck, not for the first time it would seem. These DPF failures just go on and on.

I went to Canberra over the weekend (in the "other" car ) and noticed that the servo at Exeter has adblue on tap at the bowsers. Haven't noticed that anywhere else before.

I've seen them a fair bit in Sydney. Mostly BP's.

I guess with the RRT being released in december, it will take until May to have all of them updated as per servicing. I'm still yet to hear of one failing with this update.....

Only trouble is the dealers are not universally alplying the update. Customers have to insist it be done. So it may go on for longer than May due to slack dealers and DYI etc servicing.

My car hasn't been to the dealer, so still hasn't had the update.
Yet I've now seen two regens kick off successfully with OBD Fusion running, and whilst driving at at less than highway speeds. Both worked perfectly with the DPF ending up at 8%.
I wonder what goes wrong on some?
(At this point, haven't had any errors either with the iCar3 dongle.)

I will make damn sure though that the update is done when I get a chance- and I also have the problem of the harsh "detonation" type noise occasionally when accelerating AND a stability control light which comes on after start very occasionally, and then no cruise control. (It's fixed itself every time after a restart.)
I believe that both those issues are also fixed with the same update.

I was talking to a friend of a friend with a Mercedes diesel wagon SUV. IF YOU THINK THE Jeeps are having issues, they pale into insignificance compared to hers. It's eighteen months old, does mostly highway driving, and has been on a tilt tray truck four times!!

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

Yeah, I had that TC problem once, they applied the RRT for that and haven't had it since. (edit: that was the P64 recall)

The family up the road have a new GL500, saw it getting towed about 2 months ago.

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

How noisy is the detonation/rattle type noise?

I'm familiar with a regular petrol motor detonation but under very light acceleration and whilst cold my (Diesel, my2015) Jeep GC makes a very diesel type noise which is out of character but smoothes out once the turbo comes on boost or you apply more throttle.

It's a a very harsh, rattling noise under acceleration which is only there sometimes, not EVERY warmup.

Sometimes it's very noticeable, other times, barely at all.

That harsh rattle at times is what I have experienced with my diesel for well over 1 year also. I have not had a re-occurance of this excessive clatter since Late November 14 when the service mob put some diesel treatment in the tank. I added a Chemtec additive on the 3 refuel myself as a precaution. Jeep use, I am told a special Fortron product but that's only available from the service department. It's been full tank refuelled 5 times since Nov. with only the normal cold start warm-up clatter under load and that has just started to happen again with the colder weather.
Have you had 14-104 done as I was putting it off because of reports on this forum that it wasn't a final fix like the previous update for detonation.
Being serviced today and is having the update done for the DPF and detonation(clatter), also having another attempt to fix this useless climate control system issue of erratic surges in temperatures.

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

Further to my previous post, Jeep now staying overnight or longer awaiting a replacement PCM from Melbourne. Was informed whilst trying to do the 14-104 update it spat the dummy. This was a good outcome because when they probed into the failure of the PCM (unusual high cabin temps) had been recorded that the HVAC had failed to correct. The initial indications are that possibly the PCM was not disclosing faults and other issues and also not processing the updates correctly. Question is if the PCM can't process a high cabin temp that was so obvious yet ignored because there were no faults recorded, what other happenings isn't it seeing or processing. Hopefully a working Jeep will be returned again.

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

A positive post that I know could be placed in the towing thread but I think given my past DPF issue at 6000km provides hope...
Just completed 4500km trip from Brisbane to Melbourne and return via the Snowy and Blue Mountains.
Car now at 25000km having only had the one DPF issue.
Latest software patches applied.
Towing 2675kg ATM tandem van.
14.9l/100km overall. (Lots of hills!).
Not one issue. All good. Towed superbly.
Confidence of the dreaded limp mode slowly being restored.
