Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

Service history is tied to your VIN, so a dealer can see what has been done.

You are the first recorded case on JG from an owner that has had RRT 14-104 (TSB 18-019-14 REV.A) done, and still encountered limp mode. I would raise this with your service people. Make sure they are aware that you are aware it had the supposed fix applied. This will be a concern for all to know it is not a 100% fix. Ask them to make sure this case and issue is passed back up through to Jeep to be aware that more work on a fix is required.

Edit, you say displayed the same symptoms. So it did actually have the message in the EVIC saying DPF is full
The car would not accelerate above about 60kmh.
It was stuck in gear, usually 3rd or 4th
It got towed.

Well you don't need all TSBs to be done, I would only ask for a TSB to be done if you have the problem that it describes. Recalls and RRTs are different, they will get done at the service or if you respond to a recall notice, but not all recalls or RRTs apply to all cars.

It will be interesting to hear what happens with your dpf issue. As previously discussed there are lots of causes for this issue, a physical blockage, a sensor failure or a bent air tube. The update fix from december will only fix the electronics issue that failed to perform a regen, its possible you've had one of these other issues. Please keep us updated.

This is the point where you take your keys, walk out the door, get in your car and NEVER return. I wouldn't want anyone so stupid working on my car.....

edit: Hold on, are you talking about the TSB for this issue, or the wheel alignment issue you posted about in the other thread?

So they said ALL the TSBs you printed out were ALL for LHD models only? *sigh*

When ever I hear stories like yours (and there are a few) and the poster's location says Brisbane I think: "I bet that is Cricks Mansfield".

I bought from Cricks too, and went there for my 10k service, but I'm looking for somewhere else for the 20k.

Yes, those exact symptoms. The DPF message was only on for a couple of minutes before limp mode kicked in. 70 kmh was about the limit. Jeep Assist arranged a tow to Noosa.

They did RRT 14-104 again and a manual burn and I was right to go. They noticed from the service history that it was allegedly done at the previous service.

I now don't believe it was. Coincidentally this update fixes the cruise control problem which I know I had as I hate it happening. So first thing I did was test out the cruise control fault and sure enough the problem is fixed. I can still trip the CC out by holding the + button on an uphill but I can now press the CC back on as normal and continue using it. Until today, I would have had to pull over and stop the engine in order to reset it.

That's why, despite the service record, I don't believe 14-104 was done. I guess my problem now is, how can I believe the service record? Is there any chance that update information is available to those of you who read OBD ports?

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

No, the obd scanner doesn't tell you this. Its really crappy that you can't trust Jeep dealer servicing to do anything right....

edit: I can get my CC to do the same thing, holding it down for too long, or pushing it repeatedly, it thinks you are accidentally hitting the button and turns off. But you can re-enable easily, without restarting the car.

The fact that you had the other CC problem it sounds like you are right, they didn't apply the update.... Hopeless!!!

Is that the same place known as Cricks Mt Gravatt? Because that is where I got the questionable service done. Interestingly, it was done (or not done?) without me asking for it. Even though people here think RRT 14-104 is only a TSB and won't be rolled out to all vehicles, it showed up to this service dept. as a 'General Recall Code' and they at least had the intention of doing it. Well, all's well that ends well - so far!

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

Frequent reader, occasional poster, and grateful for this thread!

My GC Laredo went into limp mode at 20,000km after the DPF filled and didn't regen. I got all the displays, but didn't escape and got towed to the dealer closest to me (not my choice). Service peeps were useless, scratched my car, insisted on doing a heap of recalls rather than just use the WiTech to initiate a manual burn (they clearly wanted the money from JA), but it looks like I got the RRT 14-104 done and (touch wood) haven't had a re-occurrence.

Am monitoring my DPF level and CAT temp with a cheapie ($10) OBD2 bluetooth dongle and Android phone (thanks @Steve1307), but have yet to see a regen.

I'm now due for service (with my regular dealer) and have a slightly off-this-topic question for you based on @SNUKE's comment on TSB's:

Quote:

There aren't really that many, have a look at them all, and save the relevant ones.

...

The three I will be requesting be applied in the service due this month are:

21-012-15 - Flash: Transmission Shift Enhancements & ECO off

08-071-14 - Flash: Park Assist Enhancement

08-084-14 - Audio turn instructions do not pronounce the Street Names correctly

When requesting TSBs to be applied you MUST tell them you have a problem that is relevant to the issue the TSB covers. No problem, no TSB, as they don't get reimbursed for the work from Jeep Aus.
I want a couple of these TSB's done: For 21-012-15 I can quote symptoms, but for 08-084-14 I 'technically' don't have Nav since my Laredo has an RJ3 radio - but it's been 3rd party Nav-enabled. Nevertheless, it doesn't speak the complete street names, and so exhibits all the symptoms listed in the TSB.

Not sure I want to ask my dealer to do an update for enhancements they didn't do, but I'd like the relevant UConnect (Nav app?) patch.

Any idea how I get the patch listed in the 08-084-14 TSB outside the dealer network? (Or is this on the "don't ask this type of question" list...) I assume that this patch is more than the 14.25.5 standard UConnect flash ISO that anyone can download?

(Am sure I'll get advice if I need to move this part of my post to a different forum... )

MMM

It's a bit of a free for all in here, off topic posts are the norm, so hey!

I don't think this is something someone has tried to get a service dept to do before, so you can try it on, the worst that can happen is they say no. Some dealers are more helpful than others. Normally these patches are warranty work, but I doubt Jeep Aus would pay up for installing a patch on a car that doesn't have Nav standard. But maybe if you offer to pay for the work.....
