You're welcome

But for me the jury is still out on whether I should get a Diesel over Petrol. At this particular time I'd pay the extra fuel dollars for a V8, and piece of mind.

Despite that, a JGC for me in the immediate future is now out of the question, however the next generation Grand Cherokee (2017 or 2018) certainly is on the cards. I hope that the DFP issue is sorted by then, otherwise petrol it is.

Yes, the pre-MY14s were fine, its just the MY14s that seem to have had a change along the line somewhere and broken it.

I don't think GMWK2's issues are diesel related, the latest issue is an airbag warning light.

The diesel has been solid, except for the related DPF issues.

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

Yep - my MY12 diesel is all good with regard to the dreaded DPF issues. (Although you have just reminded me of the idler pulley that let go at 3 months and resulting quicklift trip - another story).

Current challenge is airbag - now off the road for two and a half weeks and counting......

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

I have a 2015 model. Going on 6000 miles and have had no issues. The key to all the problems (in my opinion) is to buy a scangauge or obdII scanner that can monitor the DPF soot levels, regen cycles, and exhaust temps. The in-dash evic does not do a good enough job indicating any of the above parameters. Without having knowledge of these parameters one has no way of knowing when a regen is happening or if it's in process. If a vehicle is shut down during a regen or never allowed to complete, then the issues (that have been reported) will occur. In my opinion if Chrysler adds these modules to the evic moving forward, and educated the customer (before the sale) then 99% of the problems will go away (again, in my opinion).

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

I'd like the info to be displayed in EVIC, but I don't think that would fix the issue that was occurring. In many cases owners were driving on the highway, or had recently been driving long distances on the highway when it went into limp mode. The system was failing to enter regen for some reason despite driving as required to allow it to occur.

Even if you are in the process of performing a regen and you stop the car, this shouldn't trigger a limp mode. It just means the filter was partially cleared, so instead of 8% it might only get to 40%. That shouldn't mean the car goes into limp mode.

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

Bug has been identified and a fix made available, in my opinion being concerned with monitoring and scanguage etc now is redundant - before it was identified sure, but now nope. Apply fix, be happy and never worry about it again.

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

Had the RRT 14-104 applied at last! ... The dealer said it was the first they had done, no wonder so many people have been frustrated with their JGC's going into limp mode.

I had a good yarn with the service manager who was new to the job a couple of months back. She has been waiting on Jeep Aust to provide training on Jeep but they have not delivered on their promise to date. She was quite surprised to learn that the patch was specifically aimed at the DPF problem, and furthermore that it was released in Dec last year!

Has anyone experienced a DPF limp mode post RRT 14-104?

And that, fellow CRD owners, is the $64,000 question.

So far so good...........

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

We don't think so, one owner was told it had been applied and then had the limp mode, but it seems it hadn't been applied as far as we can tell.

I don't think any car manufacturer/dealer would like us to be educated.
They're certainly not very helpful with answering questions.

"just take it for a run on the highway"

"oh yes, that is the genuine reverse camera"

Educate themselves first would a be good start
