I WILL be doing oil sampling in the future (have done that for previous vehicles) to see how it's going, don't see why we should just work on a schedule which Jeep Aust pull out of thin air, to line their pockets with extortionate servicing costs.
Why the hell would oil last longer in the U.S. than here?

These are high tech, clean burning diesels, with super high tech oil. As time goes on I will base my oil changes more on high tech oil analysis than set arbitrary figures.

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

Just to get back to the DPF problem or fix. After two limp modes in a 4 month old GC without warning had the December update 18-044-15 loaded in February. Got myself an OBD2 and using The Torque App have been able to keep an eye on the regen. (Thanks to Steve1307 for the advice and custom PID's).

Can confirm once over 65% and doing 90k's a regen starts and takes about 10 minutes to get back to 8%. This I have been able to see and control some what numerous times.

Lately I have deliberately avoided high speeds and only doing short drives (<8k's) when over 60% and last night when in peak hour traffic and the DPF showing 71.8% the regen started, speed at the time was about 60kph. Continued driving for less then 10 minutes in stop start traffic till I got home and regen was still occuring and turned off motor part way through regen to see what reading would be in the morning. Started car this morning and DPF show 11.8%. This has increased my confidence that the DPF problem is on the mend.

Will continue monitor the regen process.

Great news, thanks.
Thanks for the feedback. Isn't it great having the info up on the dash, so you actually KNOW what's happening- there is nothing worse then being treated like mushrooms (kept in the dark and fed on BS) which is what jeep dealers are extremely good at doing.
Having the DPF info up on display provides HUGE peace of mind.

I think I saw a tiny but of "passive" regen the other day, whilst towing my van at 110kph, with the Cat temp sometimes over 400 degrees. I saw the DPF actually decrease about 0.2%. Woohoo! (I wouldn't want to rely on that to get the percentage down a long way.)

(Thanks again Steve)

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

I believe I have detected a common thread (excuse the pun) going back over the last few posts. If you drive down Coronation Drive, Brissy at 110kph with a van on the back you are sure to trigger a regen.

But seriously I don't recall any reports of limp modes from anyone who has had the update or any others for that matter.

And great work Steve1307 for providing the tools and knowhow for monitoring the DPF levels

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

Yep, facebook has gone quiet on dpf limp modes too. I think we can call this one fixed (and I'll probably get a limp mode tomorrow)!

edit: And thanks to Steve for the OBD details, certainly feel better being able to monitor it.

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

Could this matter now be behind us????

No one has posted since 20.06.2015 with the last few being positive posts.

Just got a letter from FCA, stating "We have received enquiries from diesel owners regarding the operation of their vehicles, in particular, the operation of the Diesel Particle Filter." It then goes on further describing when the vehicle will burn off particulate matter.

Included was also an important one page insert for the owner's manual explaining how the DPF works and what the warning lights mean. (Pages 164A/164B) This insert is the missing information from the owner's manual about the diesel operation. Now we have been informed.

Let's hope this is the last of the DPF regen problem.

Just as a side line was driving home the other night and knowing the DPF was getting full (over 71% - didn't have the torque app on), got in the car next morning and found the DPF at 52%, had a mini burn off in the short drive.

Thanks guys for this posts and the information gained from it.

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

Well that is interesting. Is that letter a mass mailout or something in response to correspondence you had sent them?

edit: I'm starting to get the feeling that FCA are slowly getting on top of all the stuff they were previously letting slide by under Clyde.

The letter is a mass mail out, not dated and signed by Glenn Jones, (Senior Manager, Customer Care) FCA Australia.

Yep I just got that one. Saw the FCA logo when opening the envelope thinking "finally heres the one replacing my crap reverse cam"... . ..no it's a letter telling me a fraction of what we know from this thread.
Imagine my disappointment

Interesting that FCA are doing this all the same.

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

I got emailed a survey from FCA after my last service and I mentioned the confusion and lack of support from head office in relation to this issue. Maybe enough complained that they felt they had to respond.
