Is anyone aware of Jeep's servicing costs for the WK2?

Toyota offer a something like $250.00 per scheduled service upto 60000km for anything from Landcruiser down.

Just wondering if Jeep Australia are offering a similar deal.

Since Amazon quotes the filter for under $20, I cannot see how it would be over $A190. Knowing how many dealers grossly overcharge for oil, I could remotely see how you would pay $200 for the best oil. eg. Royal Purple is around $100 per 5Ltrs., and therefore see a markup of another $80 for the dealer to remove the cap. (corkage fee?)

For a cartridge filter that is grossly over priced.
VM have agents in AUS sure one of them would have these filters.
I know the euro fuel filter can be pricey on the mercs with the heater element in them.
Not sure on the VM if they have the heater in the fuel filters.
Cant understand why merc have a disposable fuel heater.

Yeah, I've got too much time on my hands.....
Just for fun I rang the agents in Aus for VM Motori - who is MTU Detroit, there is an agent close to us.
They weren't able to identify an oil filter for a VM A630 V6 CRD motor, which was the only reference I could provide.
I did tell the them it was for an automotive application and where fitted but it seems their line of business related to VM is marine.
They did say however that they can cross reference a Chrysler part number to a Donaldson part number if Donaldson do in fact make one. If Donaldson don't make one then they can't help.
Can anyone advise the part number for the current A630 oil filter?

No need to PM, I just called Jeep in Mosman and spoke to Parts. He had none in stock (i was surprised by this info), but said he could get as many as needed next day.
The price was street price (rrp), not trade as I did not ask for trade pricing although I can get it.

Rang 2 dealers for a price on 10000k CRD service, $560 from selling dealer, $480 from the nearest dealer, went with the cheaper one,

Service. 22 Dec, genuine oil. $160
!filter. $165
Labour. $110
Plus GST

Asked about filter price, got the no way! But the upside is at least it was under $500, and at best they only got up me for $100

I think I will order a filter from the dealers and do a 5k km service, as it will not hurt the beast. Think I might go synthetic oil as it should be run in by 5,000km.

It seems strange to me that the oil filter price is so variable - from ~$200 - $50, also at this time the prices are coming from dealers only and therefore should be for exactly the same Mopar part.
Either some dealers are ripping off big time or there is a part number issue.
Surely there is a recommended retail price for these things? separate to any discounted price people can get.
As far as synthetic oil is concerned there is a pretty clear spec requirement for the oil, that relates to the diesel particulate filter in the exhaust. I will certainly be making sure any oil goes in ours will comply.

in 2003 my GC with the new 2.7 crd 5k services after the second service I ordered 4 filters and got a mopar filters 6 months alter i ordered another 4 and got Bosch filters they had MB stickers on them. I asked why they said they were made by Bosch for Mopar and MB. Prices ranged from $17 to $50 from the same dealer. soon hopefully some one will find the VM part number.

PS the hemi 12k service was invoiced as $355 which the dealer paid they gave me a copy.

Hi All, I have the Deisel Laredo on order and the dealer here in Vic has offered their extended warranty as long as I complete the servicing with them. In the main, this works for me.
This is the dealer warranty and extends from 3yr/100,000km to 6yr/200,000km. My wife's cousin is the service manager for another of their branches interstate and he confirmed they offer this in all their dealerships (not just Jeep) as part of their business offer.
I then enquired of my local dealer a schedule of service fees and the following is a copy of their email.

> After talking with the men at service I have been told your services are
> app. as follows
> 10k $350
> 20k $350
> 30k $350
> 40k $900- MAJOR
> 50k $550
> 60k $350
> 70k $350
> 80k $900- MAJOR

Hope this is of help to others.

That must be through another party not affiliated with Chysler. I have talked to IAG who provide the chrysler extended warranty and it's only to 175k. Details here

http://www.jeepgarage.org/showthread.php?t=32260.

I have heard some dealers are offering a third party (non affilated with chrysler) extended warranty and require you to lock in servicing. I would be careful with another insurer.

Who is the insurer btw?

Not sure who their insurer is, but the dealer group also sell Nissan, Holden and Ford across Vic, Qld & NSW and this deal applies to all their brands. Will find out more in the next week when I see the cousin. Overall I'm happy with the quoted servicing prices and see the extended warranty as a bonus. My last Jeep was sold with 220,000km and still started and ran as good as the day I got it. Never had a problem with service or warranty work when needed. I guess there is something to be said to sticking with the dealer and service workshop you know.

I would check if there are any limits on the claims. I have a crappy Suttons warranty that they included with my car and it is a waste of paper. Limits of $2500 per claim with a lifetime limit of $3000. That and needing to service it with Suttons.
We all know they rip you off on these deals, so I would closely check the fine print as it sounds more like a dealer warranty, not a factory one.

Service pricing for petrol 3.6 V6 Laredo quoted by Suttons Waitara today:

6m/12k $395
12m/24k $425
18m/36k $865
24m/48k $1295
30m/60k $425
36m/72k $865

Apparently they are going to follow the schedule for older engines and throw out the spark plugs after 24 months or 48,000 km even though they can last 144,000 km in Europe and 90,000 miles in America! Or do they put different spark plugs in engines destined for Australia?

Apparently they are going to follow the schedule for older engines and throw out the spark plugs after 24 months or 48,000 km ........
And this is precisely one of my concerns in that the service handbooks provided with our vehicles appear to just be generic documents for Jeeps, not specific to the WK2 Grand Cherokees.

I find it difficult to believe that a WK@ JGC specific service handbook is not provided by Chrysler Jeep U.S., rather than just the generic Jeep books that we have in Australia.

The example by F500 re sparkplugs is a good one, ie replace 48,000 km in Australia, replace 144,000 kms in Europe. Oil for the CRd, replace every 10,000kms in Australia, replace oil every 20,000kms in Europe.

The generic book in my mind is simply just an easy half assed attempt at a service schedule that covers all jeeps, that is likely biased towards over servicing. How many existing or previous Jeep owners complain about the cost of servicing and parts in Australia? I suspect that Chrysler Jeep Australia is simply trying to rip off their Jeep customers and are doing their high cost of ownership reputation no good.

An example is that, without going into the specifics, I require two standard factory made electronic modules from the US so that I can have an accessory programed into the system for the WK2. Quoted cost from Jeep is circa $1,500 for the two parts. Yet if I import the parts myself the price is circa $325 including freight. I understand the concept of markups and margins, however $460%?

I think that we have great vehicles being delivered from Jeep in the U.S. that have demonstrated the significant development dollars that have been plowed into them. However their Australian counterpart are not up to the same class. It's not the dealers, its Chrysler Jeep Australia.

Just like the HEMI oil should be 5w20.
But the dealers use 5w30. I believe because it will just work in more engines and they get it in bulk.
Chrysler should make the recommended oil available to us.
Mine has dropped economy and got laggy since the oil change, and I am not happy.
I have asked them to correct it and they said they would get back to me.
This was last week.

Do you know exactly what the product name of the oil they put in it? Other than viscosity, it may not even meet spec. Usually 1 step change in the warm viscosity rating shouldn't make that much difference (my experience only).

I remember one of the Ford mechanicans jokingly telling me once that they always use precisely the specified oil for each vehicle model, provided that it was the same as whats in the big drum out the back. Seriously they only had two different oils on tap. One type that they used for most standard vehicles and then a different oil for the performance vehicles. This was probably 5 years ago so maybe things have improved since then.
