So I think this rules out the CRD
Are you confusing towing capacity with carrying capacity? maybe?

I will read the paperwork and check it out. So far everything I have been told by Gosford Jeep has been all good.

David do you have any contact details, as that price looks good. I assume I can purchase additional warranty from any dealer.

Re: Jeep Australia Servicing Deals

Going a bit sideways but back to the original thread question - some of you guys would know that on the Caravaners forum in Aus there was this post for a 10K service...
"Re: new grand jeep cherokee v6 diesel??????
by (removed) Wed Nov 09, 2011 2:38 pm

Hi all
Final outcome $669.05 (incl. GST), comprising labour $184.80, oil filter $193.74, washer $4.84, and 8L oil $285.67.

The service manager was in earnest discussion with the Chrysler state manager as I left, but promised that there will be a resolution, at least regarding the oil, and I will get a substantial credit at the next service. I'll keep you all informed. (signature removed)"

Hmmm, didn't make me too happy as when our order was placed (Gold Coast) the salesman quoted "around $450 for a normal service" in response to my question at the time.

Can anyone advise whether the oil filter price and the oil price is actually correct?

What are people being charged for a 10k service for a CRD?

I know the spec is for a synthetic 5/30 oil suitable for exhaust particulate filters.
Thanks
John

Re: Jeep Australia Servicing Deals

Since Amazon quotes the filter for under $20, I cannot see how it would be over $A190. Knowing how many dealers grossly overcharge for oil, I could remotely see how you would pay $200 for the best oil. eg. Royal Purple is around $100 per 5Ltrs., and therefore see a markup of another $80 for the dealer to remove the cap. (corkage fee?)

Re: Jeep Australia Servicing Deals

Valvoline or Castrol oil that meets the CRD spec is about $260 for 20 litres, 20 litres is the smallest size, this is in Cairns which is not known for cheap prices. diesel today is 155.9/litre 10c more than ulp. So oil may be cheaper in other areas.

Re: Jeep Australia Servicing Deals

For a cartridge filter that is grossly over priced.
VM have agents in AUS sure one of them would have these filters.
I know the euro fuel filter can be pricey on the mercs with the heater element in them.
Not sure on the VM if they have the heater in the fuel filters.
Cant understand why merc have a disposable fuel heater.

Re: Jeep Australia Servicing Deals

Yeah, I've got too much time on my hands.....
Just for fun I rang the agents in Aus for VM Motori - who is MTU Detroit, there is an agent close to us.
They weren't able to identify an oil filter for a VM A630 V6 CRD motor, which was the only reference I could provide.
I did tell the them it was for an automotive application and where fitted but it seems their line of business related to VM is marine.
They did say however that they can cross reference a Chrysler part number to a Donaldson part number if Donaldson do in fact make one. If Donaldson don't make one then they can't help.
Can anyone advise the part number for the current A630 oil filter?

$194 for an oil filter? That can't be right.

Re: Jeep Australia Servicing Deals

might be worthwhile posting a question in the UK side of the forum asking them what they are paying for a filter.
