Chrysler should make the recommended oil available to us.
Mine has dropped economy and got laggy since the oil change, and I am not happy.
I have asked them to correct it and they said they would get back to me.
This was last week.
Do you know exactly what the product name of the oil they put in it? Other than viscosity, it may not even meet spec. Usually 1 step change in the warm viscosity rating shouldn't make that much difference (my experience only).

I remember one of the Ford mechanicans jokingly telling me once that they always use precisely the specified oil for each vehicle model, provided that it was the same as whats in the big drum out the back. Seriously they only had two different oils on tap. One type that they used for most standard vehicles and then a different oil for the performance vehicles. This was probably 5 years ago so maybe things have improved since then.

You now have my curiosity. Is it an electronic, squirrel tail, dash wiping machine? Or is it a boring brake controller?

Not a brake controller, No.

It's a laser so that if someone pulls out in front of you with the ACC on, instead of braking the other car just gets blown to smitherines? Before you get excited, no, its not that either.

What they tell me is it is Mobil full synthetic, and it can only be brought in bulk by the dealer. Pretty lame.
Looking at the oil smelling it, I think it is regular oil and does not have the same feel as the Fuchs full syn 0w20.
But I am no oil expert.

I believe what you say above to be true same oil for all.

Re: Jeep Australia Servicing Deals

Had the beast servived today (Hemi) and was told by two guy,s that use 5w20 on the V8, They only use the Mopar oil as thats what is recommended to be used, and believe that Pentrite is the brand of oil in the Mopar container which i sighted.
Thay also told me that the Diesel oils used on something like $30.00 ltr

The bill was for $453.73

Re: Jeep Australia Servicing Deals

according to penrite they don't have a 5w20.
When I called them they advised me that Chrysler told them their enviro 5w30 is ok for the hemi.
Have a look at their site http://www.penriteoil.com.au/product...ne-oils/enviro+
no 5w20 there

Re: Jeep Australia Servicing Deals

Actual first service cost at Suttons Waitara on Laredo 3.6. I told them not to rotate the wheels and "only" got billed $329.39 compared to the $395 quoted. Here is what they charged for:

Labour: $168.00
400g degreaser: $6.00
Oil drain plug: $23.29
Oil filter: $27.61
Opticlean: $1.09
Oil: $50.00
Waste oil levy: $7.95
Workshop supplies: $15.50
Tax: $29.95

I guess they dumped the oil on the floor and used a lot of time and degreaser to mop it up

Re: Jeep Australia Servicing Deals

I did not know the V6 had disposable sump plugs. I wonder if they are charging you $23.29 for a washer...

Was thinking the same. 23.29 for a washer ouch. Most genuine MOPAR filters come with a new sump washer. (well my old diesel does)

Re: Jeep Australia Servicing Deals

Suttons Waitara is my closest dealer and they did exactly one service on my GC. Never experienced less value for money...

Re: Jeep Australia Servicing Deals

Just thinking after reading through this thread, what would stop you from providing your own genuine parts when you put the vehicle in for service (assuming you have them) and telling the service dept to use them? e,g, oil filter, spark plugs, oil. It wouldn't void the warranty, and would only allow the dealer to rip you off on labour and not parts as well.
