Re: Jeep Customer Service and DRL's

I have also noticed my DRL lenses are starting to go cloudy just above the bulbs. Only 9500km done. LED's has to be the easiest (and best) solution.

Re: Jeep Customer Service and DRL's

Make sure you get new headlights first. At over $5,000 you do not want to pay that out of your own pocket.

Re: Jeep Customer Service and DRL's

Just had my headlights replaced and pulled the DRL relays as soon as I got home. It's only 12km's from the stealership to home and they were that hot I couldn't touch them. With 6,500km's on the clock they were very fogged and black around the globe holders.

If you need help getting them swapped tell them you have water getting inside the headlight. I got a big fat no when I asked about the burning/damage from the globe... But as soon as I said that water had gotten in they had me down there as soon as the headlights landed.

Re: Jeep Customer Service and DRL's

I had my headlights replaced under warranty (no questions asked) about five weeks ago and at the same time ordered the 5050 LEDS from China ($9.95 for two delivered took about three weeks) I fitted the LEDS last weekend but my passenger side lens had already started to go cloudy again, but good news this wiped off with a tissue (got the wife to do this as she has long skinny fingers).

Mine too. Cleaned them after a 7hr drive, but the cloudiness has re-appeared after another 7 hours in the saddle. At least the scorching is not occuring and a simple wipe over keeps them looking brand new. Who replaced your headlights? Was it Albion? They did mine...no questions

Re: Jeep Customer Service and DRL's

I was wondering with the ebay LED DRL’s if you run them on a 12v supply for say 48 hours continuously (to burn off any residue) prior to install, cloudiness problems should go away?

Re: Jeep Customer Service and DRL's

Just had a call from my dealer advising the 2 new headlight assemblies have arrived.
I am thinking that once they are replaced, I will disconnect the DRL's until a good fix has been released. I am not sure that replacing the bulbs with LED's is the fix at this point in time.
You can see from the below photo of one of my DRL's how much damage is done to both socket and reflector.

Hi Glenn, I am really keen to purchase these LEDs based on your experience, but the link is no longer valid. Are you able to provide the seller/item details?

BTW - Called Customer service and they suggested to replace the Holders and lamps (and clean the reflectors) Sound familiar?

Looks like these are sold out but the same seller has these which might be a little better

The reflectors on mine were scorched as well as foggy. Thats why the whole assy (headlamps, holders and globes)were replaced under warranty. The new LED caused a slight fog when new but this has not not got any worse. Good luck with the purchase above. I have them noted to purchase next time.......after 50,000 hours of driving according to the add!!!!

Glenn,
How are the replaced sockets bearing up? Any sign of scorching?

Nope, just checked and they are like new...but noticed they are a grey plastic whereas the ones replaced were white plastic, felt very brittle and were very badly scorched. Looks like LED's the way to go.
