Re: Jeep Customer Service and DRL's

posting a pic of my mates DRL after 80k, DRL's never been turned off. sockets are black all around. the reflector surface is bubbling and peeling off hard to see in this pic.

Re: Jeep Customer Service and DRL's

That appears to be the "normal" state of those who have done a few thousand klms. Advise him to visit a dealer and get the whole assembly replaced. Outside of warranty, he can expect a bill of $5,000 plus.

Re: Jeep Customer Service and DRL's

Might just throw this out there, but whilst I love the look of my LED DRL's during the day, I have to say the mix of HID, LED DRL and Fogs don't look as good as stock standard with incandecent DRL and Fogs. I am not sure whether to persue a LED Fog, or try to find a LED DRL with a "warmer" white. The "cool" with (6000k) can look a little on the bright purple side. How are other peoples LED DRL's looking?

Re: Jeep Customer Service and DRL's

Got my new headlights fitted today. Good to see a bright DRL reflector again. As I was leaving, there was a GC Limited owner parked next to me, who had just had a regular service completed. I looked at his lights, and sure enough his reflectors were whited out and sockets burnt. Naturally, he had not noticed, but did say that he had though something was amiss when he drove into his garage and saw the reflection against the back wall. I suggested he go back inside and ask why they had not mentioned the drl issue to him, and also ask why he did not receive the sand issue ecu update.
It is quite evident that dealers are not looking after these issues and only doing things if the owners complain.
On a side issue, when I drove out of the dealership, after a couple of klms I started getting alerts on the evic. "FCW NOT ON" meaning the forward collision system had failed. Drove back to the dealer, where after 40mins or so, they declared all OK, and that a panel was obscuring the dome. Started the car and got the same message. Went back in, and after them telling me it was normal, we managed to find another GC with Collision warning system, and that car's dome was a lot different in fixture to mine. Eventually, they agreed that something was not right. Basically, my dome was moving around, whereas it should be fairly solid on the mounting. My guess is that while removing the headlights, they had to remove the front facia, and somehow, they have broken the radar dome. Back to them next week, when I am betting they will tell me that it is broken, and I will have to wait several weeks for a replacement. NOT TOO IMPRESSED.

Re: Jeep Customer Service and DRL's

Ummm Ally, I waited 4 months for my FCW Dome. Dealer broke mine as well just doing a 10k km service. I hope they manage to get your sorted out quicker as it took 15+ phone calls and an angry conversation with Jeep AU to get it fixed.

Re: Jeep Customer Service and DRL's

I got curious about the issue with the Fwd Collision Warning system, so pulled the bottom of the grill off today to see exactly what was going on. After a couple of minutes, I found that they had dislodged a fixing, and I was able to get it back in place myself. They had two goes at it, and it was that simple.
I did notice that they also managed to lose one of the large qtr turn grommets that hold the bottom of the grill in place. Just pure and simple sloppy work.

Good work! It's a rule that they have to lose a quarter turn fasteners each time. It's also a rule that they have replace fasteners with something other than what they took out. I think it's an anti-discrimination thing.

You could be right. But in this case, they didn't even bother to replace with anything.
Anyway, I have also now pulled the relays on the DRL's until I source some LED bulbs.

Hang fire on your LED's. I've just ordered another type of Ebay that certainly look less "purple". I'll let you know how the new ones look as soon as they arrive. (Less LED's than my 5050's but higher power Crees that might be a better "white")

Re: Jeep Customer Service and DRL's

Hi Guys,

I've just come back from my 20 k service. I showed them the damage to both the front DRLs and rear brake lights. I've attached some pictures of the rear reflectors that are starting to burn through. I believe the extensive damage is from long driving distances (Sydney/Adelaide return) = long time being turned on.

The are replacing them all under warranty. They also told me that the front reflectors now have a new part number, so hopefully this will fix the fogging. Rear reflectors however are the same old part numbers so I may have to go LEDs all around.

Re: Jeep Customer Service and DRL's

Has there been a recall for the DRL and head lamp replacement?
As usual I phoned Jeep received a complaint number however the dealer says this is standard.
After a discussion I decided to let the issue develop.
Going in for my 30K service soon.
On the other hand original set of shocks replaced then they have been replaced now on My 3rd set all done with no issues or hassles.
