Re: Jeep Customer Service and DRL's

Firstly, it is NOT STANDARD.
I have never heard of a standard light fitting that has burnt sockets and smoked reflectors. The service person who told you that come under the category of IDIOT.
Unfortunately, once again Jeep pretend it is not occurring, so there is no recall.
Who was the dealer?

Re: Jeep Customer Service and DRL's

Hi the dealer is CJD at Narellan
Yes you are correct in relation to burnt sockets and misting to the reflectors. I hope that Jeep realise their commitment to the WH&S regulations (Is this the way the vehicle was delivered or passed the Australian regulations). We will see.

The servicing costs vary a great amount however I can not see how Jeep dealers can charge such varied amounts.

Each service I ask for quotes from Jeep Five dock, Jeep Narellan, Parramatta Jeep and Penrith Jeep. The prices vary from say $580 to $280 when I use the free oil filter coupon.

I was charged about $280 using my free filter coupon and others are being charged $500 for their 20,000 service.

The average dealer charges $100 per hour.

Regards
John W

SORTED!!! Bought these, took a while to arrive but fitted them tonight and PERFECT!! Less blue/purple than my last ones so they complement the Xenons absolutely perfectly. As a DRL they are also much brighter. I suppose brighter means hotter so I will be monitoring the chrome above the light....however I have made a "DRL cleaning tool" that I may patent and sell on Ebay....no sod it, you've helped me enough!! Its a peice of coat hangar, bent at 90 degrees, generous amount of cotton wool attached to the end held on with a band aid! I gave the wool a blast of C02 electronic cleaner and cleaned the fogging. I can almost reach the top of the reflector however the main reflective surfaces are clean. In my opinion, any heat in the light fitment causes fogging, LED or no LED. Its definately brought on by prolonged day-time driving....my journeys anything from 4 hours to 9 hours (on a single tank.....sorry digressing). However, with the LED's the damage is not permanent and the refelctors can be cleaned.
I'll keep you posted but wrapped with the new LEDS.

2pcs T25 30W 6 Cree LED CAR Auto Turn Signal Backup Reverse Light Bulb 3156 3157 | eBay

PS, the lens is wasted due to the ends sitting inside the little Jeep motif. The other Crees in the LED however make up for it!!

Re: Jeep Customer Service and DRL's

They are 25w, which to my way of thinking will be very hot in operation. I would have thought something with half that wattage would be better suited. It will be interesting to hear your experience after a few weeks. Hopefully, I am wrong.
I have disabled mine for the time being.

Hopefully I read the specs correctly, the light output is stated as 21W that is the same as the incandecent tail/brake light installed at the factory that cooks the holder. The current on the LED's however is only 500mA that effecively means the electrical output is only 6W and therefore should run cooler. They also look awesome..makes the car look CLASSY

Not got a Scooby...but had another look this morning with the DRL's on full (needs engine running) and the only heat feels as though it is centred around the lens at the tip of the bulb, warm but not hot. The incandencent would have been extremely hot to the touch at full 21W. DRL's are cleaned up so I will keep an eye on things from here-in....did I mention they look awesome?!!

Excuse the wheelie bin....should have "Photo Shopped" it out along with the weeds!!! The drivers side is complete. The passenger sides got the previous LED installed. It's a bit hard to see, but the passenger side "glows" a distinct light purple colour whereas the new LED matches the HID perfectly. The second photo with just the DRL's lit shows the new colour pretty well.
