Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

Update on status of this issue in Australia. I had had a call from Tracey at Jeep Cust Service about a month ago that an update to fix GPS was available now (I have a case number) and to call my dealer. Discussed with my dealer (Jeep Fivedock) who are on the ball with TSB's I have found and they had to order the disc as others have reported. They called me last week to say disc had arrived so went today for installation. No luck, the map is for Sth Africa. They investigated through their files and found that there have been revisions to the TSB!

Rev A of the TSB has a part number for the RHP radio (68210917AA) that is now the RHP update for Sth Africa. There are three part numbers for the RHP radio now in Rev C of the TSB dated Oct 19, one for Sth Africa, one for Aust/NZ (68212936AA) and one for Middle East all with v4.3.1 of the radio firmware but different maps. So, now my dealer has to reorder the correct disc.

I'm posting here to suggest that if your dealer is waiting on the disc and had ordered prior to Oct 19 that you check what part number is on order because it is likely wrong! Hopefully this will save a few of you some wait time. Clearly there was a stuff up by Jeep in the US and it has been rectified in the revision.

Took my car to Jeep WA the other day for upgrade. They had the wrong disk. I was amazed that Ben (service manager) had never heard of the sat nav issue???

I suspect a lot of this is Jeep AU's fault. They don't tell the dealers anything, so if the dealer doesn't have a customer complain, they just keep their heads in the sand.

I had my MY13 in to Suttons this week. They knew about the update, possibly because I have been beating them up weekly. They managed to do the 2.184 update, but when they tried to update the maps, the system would not accept my VIN. They talked to Jeep AU about this, but could not get any useful info.

Ross51 points out that the original part number for the update discs is wrong, and it is likely that Suttons have the wrong ones. I am hoping this is the reason they were unable to do the update. I have let them know about this, I guess it's wait and see, again.

No, it was Waitara. They seem pretty good most of the time, but I think they struggle a bit with the way Jeep AU operates

Well not feeling too confident for my service on Wednesday

What version were you on before - mine is 2.126

Did you notice any improvement with the upgrade to 2.184 even without the map upgrade.

I was on 2.126 too. No observable change in the mapping system - still took me to a spot about 10k from the motel I stayed in when I went down to Sydney for the service.

It is subjective, but I think the voice recognition when using uconnect might be a little more responsive.

Is there a dealer that doesn't?

They looked into it for me and when they checked my vin the system it came up that I wasn't eligible for the update and when they queried it with Chrysler they were told the updates were only for the MY12.
The dealer has gone in to bat for me with Chrysler in the hope that they will allow the update. I'm glad I rang and complained 3 months ago, at least I have a number and I'm in there system, it might help in getting the update.
I haven't heard back from the dealer today, so looks like a phone call tomorrow.
I noticed this on the TSB from Dec 2012 that it was only for MY12 models yet my MY13 is still out of date. Might be a call to HO.
