You need to follow that post with this follow up report a few months ago after the VW debacle

Lax lemon laws drive VW owners to class action | carsguide.com.au

"The nation's peak consumer body - the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission ---- refused to confirm or deny whether a customer has received a full refund or a replacement vehicle since the tougher standards were introduced two years ago, despite refunds and replacement cars being commonplace overseas."

There was a member here who had a full refund over an unrelated matter after taking action. And yes - the terms were confidential.

Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

Finally got the 2.184 update on my MY13 Overland but only after I got Tracy to intervene with the dealer that I would get the SW update but not the map update. And so far it seems to make no difference on local roads.

Would the map update make any difference - am not keen to shell out $220 just to try it

Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

No. The map update makes NO difference from what I have so far experienced.
If the map update costs $220, then that would be a $330 loss. I added a $100 to empathise the hardship.

Under no circumstances should you give these greedy bastards any $$ to fix what is obviously a fault.

As Allypally says - it doesn't make any difference anyway.

We will try to get a class action going in the new year - you are welcome to take part.

Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

Given this map update is an RRT (12-072 ) I would not have expected that there should be any charge. My dealer has the update although I have not been able to get back to do it and no charge has been mentioned.

I also have 2.184 at this point. My observation has been in the city that routing is different and somewhat more sensible. It is still useless on country roads at this point but the map update is supposed to help that.

I have yet to see an OEM nav system including Lexus that is as good as a TomTom so I am simply hoping for something that is at least a bit sensible unlike at the moment which is useless. Bungendore's initial experience seemed ok so I remain hopeful.

.
TSB 08-070-13 specifically states that this is a warranty repair - still doesn't stop the thieves at Jeep Aust from trying to charge for it.

I have 2.184 installed also - I haven't seen any improvement, and given Allypally's experience with the map update I am not expecting any improvement from that either - if and when they decide to make it available to MY13 models.
