[QUOTE=overlandnewbie;949660]I was told by the dealer that they could upgrade the maps for my MY13 Overland[/QUOTE

That will be great if your dealer is right. My dealer told me that too, but when they put my VIN into the system it was not accepted as needing the fix. Perhaps things have changed. The TSB still shows it as only applying to the 2012 range. Please let me know how you go. I'll follow up with my dealer also.

Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

I had that issue with the VIN when I booked the JGC for it's first service. I was asked for the VIN but of course when I went to collect it they told me it was not on the VIN list. That is when I contacted Tracy and she advised that they would do the SW upgrade but not the maps but they had to order the disc first - that took about 3 weeks. Took it in last week and was told by the dealer then that they could upgrade the maps so am assuming, probably incorrectly, that they have checked it against the VIN list.

Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

Nearly off topic but not, at my last service I was assured the flashes for Nav and 4x4 were done but is there a way to check what has been applied in the on board system - Milous???

Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

OK, here's my update.

My vehicle is a 2012 model (plated) but manufactured in Nov 2011.
Was told by dealer today that I am not on the VIN list and have to pay for any updates. My understanding was that the TSB applied to all 2012 models, go figure.

The dealers have been made aware of the issues with my SAT NAV for over a year now.

I do not think I should be paying to rectify a basic routing issue with a SAT NAV that is not "fit for purpose".

I have advise the dealer of my intentions of taking this up with Fair Trading and have started the paperwork.

Not impressed or happy with Jeep's response at all.

Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

You are not the first person to have been told that your car does not show up on their computer, as requiring the update.
A friend also had the same issue, and even though Customer Assist acknowledged that the car should be suitable. However, Customer Assist also apparently stated that "there is nothing we can do".
Bunch of clowns.

Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

Wabat - I see you are in Canberra. Do not accept the 'disinterest' of Jeep.

Suggest you contact ACT Office of Regulatory Services (what may be called Dept of Fair Trade in other states).

I have found them helpful and they are aware of the Jeep sat nav problem. Contact details are:

Tel: 6205 3706
Email: Narelle.Bramwell@act.gov.au

Follow their directions. Lodge an official complaint. The more unhappy Jeep buyers who look for legal recourse or financial compensation - the more Jeep will be interested in fixing this problem for ALL owners.

Good luck!

Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

I have a very strong suspicion that Jeep Australia, in their usual secretive and non helpful way, have offered the "free map fix", to those who complained loud enough about the routing issues, by using a map upgrade from 2012.
Up until I had the "fix" my map database was
Application: 2.136
Database: HPT1 A1112 4.2.1
After...
Application: 2.184
Database: HPT1 A1247 4.4.0

It is my understanding that the 1st 2 digits after the "A" represents the year.
Therefore in 2013, Jeep were trying to flog 2012 databases, not the 2013 year.

I am led to believe that the "current" map database, from Navteq is
HPT1 A 1329 4.5.0. This year's database from Navteq, should display something like HPT1 A 14xx x.x.x

If anyone with a MY11 or MY12, or even a MY13, if considering purchasing new maps ensure they are not paying for superseded versions.

Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

We have yet to hear from anyone who has the 13 database installed.
I can state that the 12 database does nothing to fix the issue.
As with the latest maps fixing the issue, I very much doubt it, as it is not the maps that are causing the issue, but the way Jeep are using those maps. At least with a later map, there "should" be less unverified roads, so less of an issue.
If you do a test route on the website of Navteq, and do the same in the Jeep, if there are unverified roads in that route, you will get different results.
