I first reported the issues I was having with the sat nav to Jeep nearly 12 months ago. Notwithstanding I have a case number, my vehicle does not come up as needing the fix when the dealer punches in my VIN. I spoke to Tracey a couple of times in the week prior to my service last week to ensure that the TSB along with the stuck in sand TSB were applied. The dealer told me she had contacted them and instructed them what needed to be done.

Result:

Firmware version is now 2.184
Database: HPT1 A1112 4.2.1

What a joke, I wonder if they didn't perform the map update, thinking I wouldn't pick up on it.

Time to go to DEFCON 2.

Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

I have a Navman MY something something. I like the way it is setup/layed out, but I hate how slow it is to respond to my inputs.
I am stupid not to have played with it more in store, knowing full well I would gladly pay $100+ more to have a unit that responds instantly.
I loved my old MIO, unfortunately it was going to cost more than a new unit to update the maps, and it would have changed the UI too.

Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

In regard to the Map database, The version A 1112 is the 2011 database.
I think the "A" refers to Australia, and the 1st and second numbers represent the year.
Therefore.
A 1112 is Australia 2011
A1247 is Australia 2012
A1329 is Australia 2013.

What Jeep Australia are "offering" as a fix is an old superseded database, which has a few less unverified roads than the 2011 version, but not as less as the 2013 version..

Has this issue reached the point where Fair Trading will get involved yet? Sounds like there has never been a reliable version of the SatNav - not an issue of updates breaking a working product, but that it was never effective / suitable for sale in Australia in the first place.

Yes Agree, I made that mistake a few years ago and then on top of it they pulled out of the US market and left me hanging. Not good enough to compete I guess

The issue in Australia is that we have a ton of consumer protection laws
But the departments and public servants who have the responsibility to administer and over see these laws really rarely give the public much help or assistantance they will keep telling you to negotiate with the dealer etc
They want you to be the bad guy and do the work and just like JA hope you will go away

Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

I have a JGC Overland with the integrated Navigation system.

What a marvelous piece of software and database engineering. Even if you really, really tried, and I mean really try, it would be impossible to create a more useless piece of crap than this.

If we need to get somewhere that's important and on time, we use the TomTom app on the iPhone. At least it also has traffic.

Fair call, like most public departments.

But after 25 pages of people trying to deal with JA (and the most reliable "fix" being to roll maps back a few years), surely even the public servants would have to say "Jeeze, allright you guys have given it a good shot, we'll get involved"

Uconnect has traffic - it's just disabled for Australia
