Most other makes have the latest nav discs available for purchase from the dealer - at a greatly inflated price of course. We don't even have that option. One would think these discs were made of gold or contained state secrets, based on how tightly they are controlled by Chrysler.

You obviously have never tried the one that came in NP Pajeros, it was like it was developed by North Koreas propaganda unit.
The best part was that the company that developed it (Australian) went bankrupt, and there was nothing that could be done ever.
Mitsubishi wanted to fix it, but couldn’t, so offered everyone free standalone nav units.

Um....no.

Mitsubishi actually specced it that way and Eurovox built it to their specifications. If you want to blame anyone for that crap system, blame Mitsubishi.

Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

I just checked my old post on the Pajero forums, yep it was Eurovox that I had.
Fair enough, different story to what I was told/red back then, what's new, a dealer misleading you.

I just read a few more of my old posts there, and apparently MMA started to replace them with different units, something called an AVN 6000.
My god the Eurovox unit was a heap of crap. We never used it as it was just too painful in every way. I had a hard drive failure to add to the crap.
Our road wasn’t on the map, the road had been there for decades.

Boom Crash Opera CD got stuck in it, sold the car with it stuck in there. That’s okay, everyone loves boom Crash Opera.

Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

I can vouch that if you have an electronic device on your dash, close to the Jeep's nav screen, it will interfere with the satellites, and give you extroadinary results, similar to what Matty has experienced.
I had a reverse camera monitor sitting on the dash which is used for my caravan cameras. The first time I connected it, the nav showed me many 10s klms from where I actually was. When I switched off the screen, the navigation started functioning again, but, took me out of my way as Jeep systems do.

Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

I had to drive to William Street Turramurra yesterday.
Plugged into the satnav in Chatswood this address. For some reason it wanted me to head south. Somehow it was saying Turramurra was Lavender Bay (North Sydney). Thought I had made a mistake, but nope, it was the correct address, but it was the opposite direction to where it was.

My service is due in 2 weeks, I will get the updates and then if it is still the same, take my ACCC case to the next level.

Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

At last...I can add my contribution to this thread. I've been pretty satisfied with my nav, however have not really used it in anger....until yesterday. Brisbanites will recognise the roads, but basically I took the Logan Motorway that joins the Gateway on my way to an appointment heading north to the river. In a nutshell, the highway turns a couple of times through 90 degrees over a one to two km distance. My nav insisted that I took the next exit before the motorway bend, wanted to take me down busy roads (Beausdesert Road) with multiple traffic lights before rejoining the same highway at the next junction, after the 90 degree bend!! A-haaa I thought...you're set on shortest distance although arguable that it was a shorter distance..so I changed it to "fastest". Lo and behold, it wanted me to come off the highway, double back up the highway where I had come from, and come off at the junction I had ignored!!! I switched the stupid thing off and listed to some music until I neared my destination....only then was it moderately useful........there......I've contributed......now to raise a complaint.

Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

I think when I pick my Jeep up in Sydney, and drive it back to Perth, I'll have to keep a travel diary regarding the SatNav... Wonder how long it will take to route me via Darwin as the fastest route.

Or maybe it will just attempt to jail me in Melbourne forever doing circles of the city before I set off west

Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

The problem is with the 2011-2013 models, not the newer MY14's. (well not that I have heard)
I am sure your new jeep will find its way West without a problem.
