I am sure your new jeep will find its way West without a problem.
Ah, OK. Guess my thought process was "If the 2014 model isn't having issues, they would have upgraded 11-13 to fix theirs" - but that would be common sense on Jeep Australia's behalf.

Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

Here's the latest in my version of this saga!
Went to dealer today to have the map update applied. As with others here, my VIN is not recognised despite the vehicle being built in April 2012 and delivered July 2012. Dealer is aware I have a case number with Jeep Cust "Service" so contacted Chrysler to raise a Technical Case (whatever that is but apparently different to Case Number). So, both dealer and I are frustrated but not able to progress because can't get activation.
I rang Customer Service and got Tracey and explained the situation. The latest story is that it is acknowledged "some" have had issues with update disk that should not (based on experience here I'd say most!). Apparently we can expect a letter in about two weeks advising of an update to be applied at next service which will include 2013 map. Not clear in hindsight if this is everyone or just those with a case number. Suspect the latter.
I reconfirmed that with a case number this would be at no charge (confirmed) and also challenged "two weeks" . Advised should definitely be that time frame but I could ring at month end if not.
I also asked why the 2012 map update could not be simply activated now to at least give me a working gps now and was advised that this could not be done because activation was an "outside service" .
So, only hope at present is tech case with dealer. I suppose on a positive note that if it happens the 2013 map would have more verified roads and may work better.

I posted the same picture up on the Jeep Aust Facebook page and this is the reply from Jeep Australia:

...the MY13 WK GPS update will be available in about 4 weeks. Please speak to you local Jeep dealer to organise an update.

I thought it was not the maps that's the issue, it's the guidance system using them.

Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

Correct. It is the routing process that is causing the problem in as much as it refuses to acknowledge the existence of a road if it has not been verified. However, the theory is that the more recent the map, the less unverified roads causing problems.

Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

If you refer to post #305, you will see the number of the 2013 map database. I know of 1 car, a MY12, which has that database installed.

Do you know if the 13XX maps are any better? I currently have the 12XX maps installed that are better than the 11XX, but still pretty poor compared to most hand held systems.

The road I live on that has been there for decades also causes a pop up of Caution Unverified Road in our MY14 system.

I wish there was an option to turn this warning off (maybe I should actually look for this option before making this comment)

Even if you could turn off this warning the GPS would still not use any unverified roads in its routeing calculations therefor making the GPS system... well, shite.
