Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

I cant recall who sang it, but there is a song called "until the twelfth of never". I think JeepAU means to weeks after that?

Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

I've just got off the phone with Jeep Customer Service in Melbourne. The lass I spoke to (no I don't know her name) had no idea about a tribunal, letters or indeed a fix for the issue. She seems to think I have an individual problem that my local dealer is trying to fix.
So why do I worry?

Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

Ha ha. I dont think there has ever been any internal communication by employees of Jeep Australia.
I am guessing they run off a script, which is randomly issued, from a machine.
For example, they get a call from a owner who enquires about obtaining an extra door key. They press a button, which displays a screen of what to say.
Jeep: What is the issue?
Owner: I need an additional car key.
J: Have you a Jeep:
O: Yes. It is a Grand Cherokee.
J: One moment. I need to see if that is really a Jeep.
O: It is a Jeep because I know what I purchased. It has a Jeep badge.
Q: Nooo. It could be a Fiat. Let me check
Q: Yes. I can confirm it is in fact a Jeep.
A: Hmmmm. Worked at Custromer Service long?
Q: Yes. I am very familiar with your car.
A: OK. What about the key?
Q: Am checking. Did you call Customer Assist?
A: You are Customer Assist.
Q: Are we? Hmmmm.
J: We can get a part, but you will have to wait a year.
O: A year?
J: Well it takes 2 weeks, but a year is quicker
J: That is how long it will take us to write a letter to the factory, post it via sea mail, then wait until a car is being shipped to Australia, so that we can ship your package in the boot.
O: That seems a long time.
J: That is our express service.
O; Cant you email the request and have the part flown here?
J: LOL. Seriously?

Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

Here's some follow up.
I received a call back from the lass at Jeep at about 4.00 PM today. I can't quote her exact words but her message was clear enough.
1. The letters are going out.
2. All dealers have the software update in hand.
3. Owners of WKs with the RHP unit can go to a dealer and have the update done, even without the letter.
I'll be calling a dealer near me to see what I can arrange. I won't be going back to the place I bought the vehicle because I could never get them to return my phone calls, and I don't like that in a salesperson.

Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

Funny how they are not sticking to the same story.
I was told there would be a code on the letter and that we must take the letter in to get the update applied.
Man Jeep AU are a bunch of muppets, they could at least keep their bullshit consistent.

Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

I also understood that the letter would contain a code. If the "upgrade" is purely mapping, which I think it is, that sounds logical.
I suspect the Muppet Clown who spoke to Orpheus has no clue, and had selected the wrong script when commenting.

I think u are all a bit hard on the darlings at customer service call center
They have so many scrips to choose from
So they picked up the wrong scrip today
We should all know that JA has no idea of customer service.
Just think how their sales would be if they understood the words and actioned "Customer Service Satisfaction"

Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

Just rang another dealer in Newcastle.
Yes, the lass is aware of a software update for selected models.
No, she believes the disk hasn't arrived yet.
Nice kid, but she can only say what she's been told.
I think there's a glimmer of hope that something might happen in the next few weeks, but I don't recommend any breath-holding.
