Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

I've been offline for a while and wow this is one step forwards by the sounds of it but I won't hold my breath.

I fully understand what is involved in undertaking battles against an unwillingness to address or remedy incompetence.

So thanks heaps Bungendore.

We had previously attended an earlier mediation hearing in December that was required to be confidential and not discussed outside the court. During that hearing Jeep promised to test and load new software that they believed would fix the previously listed problems. This time, true to their word, they did load new software in mid January and I was able to test it as far as possible in a limited time and area. We were happy with the result and it showed a giant leap in reliability on what is still a basic GPS.

In yesterday's hearing the judge reviewed many papers, copies of comments on this forum, stat decs from Jeep owners and correspondence with Jeep. I think we can sum up the day by saying the Judge was not impressed by Jeep and commented repeatedly about goods of acceptable quality, failure at customer care and the ramifications of public relations.

I take this opportunity to publically recognise the professional presentation by Mr. Glenn Jones, Senior Manager at Jeep during his attendance. Mr Jones has only recently moved into the area of customer care, heading up the customer support lines (e.g. Tracey and Rob) and general self proclaimed trouble shooter. He appeared genuinely sorry for the problems of the past and promised that Jeep had learned from the lessons and was moving into a new and fresh approach to making their customers happy. A sentiment the Judge noted.

I also take this opportunity to thank Swampy for kicking this off and support, to Allypally for his continued support and technical expertise and Wabat for enthusiasm and commitment.

During the hearing Jeep has promised the court it will be sending a letter within the next 2 weeks to all Australian owners of this GPS system - approximately 4,500 - advising of the new software and they will be able to take these letters to their dealers for the update at no charge. I am confident that this forum members will be eagerly awaiting their letters and will comment when received.

In the meantime, here is a photo of my system screen so you have something to look forward to!

Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

Ok, Good news is the software exists
The bad news is it looks like you do need the code on the letter to get it installed.
I am waiting for Jeep Assist to give me my code, as I was told you did not need the letter last week. Hopefully I will get it this week, so I can get the update done.

Why are we not surprised. Time for all of us to give them some curry. We cant let all the brilliant work by Bungendore and others be sidetracked by these fools at Jeep.

Like I said above "I won't hold my breath". I just called Customer Care and they are still working on the MY13 update. He said it shouldn't be much longer. I said that's what I've been hearing for 2 years.

So, if they are still working on the update, how can the disks already be at the dealers, waiting for an activation code from a letter?

I don't mean to alarm anyone, but is it just remotely possible that Jeep sometimes aren't telling us the truth.......

Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

I will give JeepAU CC some credit. Rob did call me back and said he got the code and will call my dealer to give it to him. I expect the dealer will call me tomorrow and I will pop down for a quick flashing.
I figure it is better to find this out, so that everyone does not need to go through the same process. Hopefully Jeep will also send out the farking letters.

P.S make sure you update your postal details with Jeep as they had my old street address, not my postal address

Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

The issue here is that on the 20th Feb Jeep Australia informed a Tribunal Judge in Canberra that they will be sending a letter within the next 2 weeks to all Australian owners of this GPS system - approximately 4,500 - advising of the new software and they will be able to take these letters to their dealers for the update at no charge.

4 weeks have now passed, and I am not aware of anyone receiving that promised letter.
Instead, we still continue to have misinformation spewed out from the Customer Service team. Surely, if Jeep Australia can't even manage to get the information correct within their own organisation, then there is very little hope of them being able to deliver anything satisfactory to the owners.
It is almost as though Jeep Australia are snubbing their noses to their supporters.
Owners, such as Enforcer, should not have to suffer the inconvenience of continually attending a prearranged service, only to be told a load of crap.

Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

If they lied to the court, then they could be held in contempt of court, which is not a good look for an international car brand.
I just hope that when I get this "fix", it really is a fix.

Just spoke to Rob on the CC desk. He assured me that letters for owners of 2011 and 2012 models. Are being Sent out now. Still no date for a fix for the 2013 model. I guess that will be next year.
