Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

Roachy. I see a couple of issues with your setup.
Firstly, you say you have a MY13. If that is the case, then I would expect your maps to be 1247 4.4.0 i.e. 2012. 1112 4.2.1 are 2011 year maps. Taking into account that Navteq (now renamed to HERE)release maps 2 times a year, but Jeep Aust purchase only once a year, your mapping software would have been superseded before you took delivery.
Secondly, the most likely cause of your exiting Wagga, was that the Stuart Hwy was probably the only "Verified" road, while other exiting roads, although appearing on the screen, would be ignored because they were still unverified.
The issue with the navigation is NOT the maps. It is the programming of the way that the Jeep computer interprets that map. The reason why a 2013 year map will "appear" to perform better, is because it should have less unverified roads.
I suggest you contact Glenn.Jones@chrysler.com who is Senior Manager - Frontline Aftersales for Chrysler Australia, and ask why he thinks your model is exempt from the fix, and why you were sold a car with superseded mapping.

I realise and agree with you that the issues is not with the maps and is due to unverified roads etc. I definitely have a MY13 (built 8/12) and it is definitely that map version but knowing Jeep they probably never bought any updates for the MY13 at all.

Basically I have been complaining to the idiots at Jeep Customer Service since taking delivery same as most have here. I suspect that Jeep don't want to do anything for MY13 owners as they think they can get away with it as there aren't as many owners as the prior MY years. That said I haven't call them yet as I was waiting to see if a letter etc does come out and to see if the fix works for a few more people. I guess if I don't see anything by next week I will be give them a call again and see what happens. Car was purchased in the ACT (though I live in NSW) so I am deciding if there might be something from Bungadore's case I can use to get something done etc.

The text on the image of the letter in Allypallys post of 25 march says that the lfix applies to 2011 to 2013 models. I have an my13 Trailhawk - we received a letter today, so your chances are good.

My database version is HPT3 A1112 4.2.1 also

Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

I thought I would expand on the testing.
I had a place in Turramurra that when I input the address, it would rout me to Lavender Bay as the destination, which is the opposite direction. The street did not even exist in Lavender bay !!.
After the update, I used the recent destinations for that address and it still said to go to LB. After I manually entered in the same address, it showed the correct destination in Turramurra.
This shows me that it was the routing and not the maps, as I could find the correct address on the old maps and could get the destination by using the cross street.

Lets hope this is a fix for all the problems we have been experiencing. I plan to now input all my destinations for the next few days to make sure it is fixed.

Thanks I missed that sentence on the letter. It is very clear "This offer is available on 2011-2013 model year Grand Cherokees."

My version is also HPT3 A1112 4.2.1.

Email to Glen sent.

Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

My Wife just tried to book in with our dealer to get the map ugrade who advised her that they will only do it with a service, as per the instructions on the letter.

So I phoned Jeep HQ who repeated the same. When I said that was not the intent of the tribunal's decision that the upgrade be conditional on paying for a service, she said she would check and when she came back on, advised that she was only covereing the phones while others were in training and she'll get someone else to phone me tomorrow.

The Saga continues.....

Ha Ha. With all that training the Customer Service team are reportedly attending, you would think they would be capable at their jobs.
It is probably training for delivering BS

Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

I attempted to make a booking, informed them I was not due for a service, had no intention to have an 'unscheduled service' unless it was also free, and was informed I could go ahead and make a booking for the update only.

Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

Part of me wishes I was affected so I could have a go at Jeep for their letter. I would happily have a dealer it had to be part of a service and then straight away go the local Tribunal to pursue them for this crap.
