Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

Had the update done today and it all seems to work like it should have from the beginning. I now have more than one choice to get out of Wagga without taking a 200 to 300km side trip - hooray.

Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

I guess people are happy with their updates, I know I am.
Seems Jeep can fix a problem first time if they want to.

I just hope they work out it is far easier to work with your customers to fix problems, rather than pissing them off and having to fight to get what is right.

Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

I am happy to supply copies of my tribunal submission and general details to any Jeep owner who might find them worthwhile/interesting/useful. Just send me a private message and I will send details.

I found that a Tribunal is the only way I could get Jeep to listen to my sat nav complaint. The Jeep rep also stated mine was the first case they had ever attended. Seems many want to talk, but few want to take action.

It really wasn't very hard or expensive. In the end the judge ordered Jeep to repay my costs e.g. applications fees etc. And Jeep had to send reps from Melbourne HO to Canberra for the case. So it was well worthwhile.

Thanks for your work and comments bugendore. I agree with you that it is frustrating that so many here complain but do not avail themselves of the correct process to lodge a claim. I went through the dept. fair trading (in NSW) to get my issues resolved and found the process easy. Jeep had been fobbing me off for several weeks but gave in and agreed to sort my issues after just one phone call from my case officer. So I was lucky that I did not need to proceed to a tribunal hearing as jeep worked out I was not stuffing around and was not going to go away. I also got the support of my local member who wrote to the minister on my behalf - again, why people don't avail themselves of the services of their elected pollies is hard to understand. I'm not saying that every issue is easy to resolve, but a few well aimed phone calls and emails and a formal claim with dept fair trading can do wonders.

People should not take this the wrong way - I'm no more clever than anyone else. Just trying to encourage people to chase what they are due.

Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

Well said guys. It appears that legal recourse is the only language JA understands and even then it appears they don't respect the decision of the ACT Tribunal. It would be interesting to see what the Magistrate would do if she was aware of what is happening regards the nav update.

Re: Jeep Navigation System = "Fail"

Had the map update done this week with the service and it is working with v2.184 firmware (thanks for heads up Allypally on 2.136 ..... I told them not to change it! )
Observations on a range of routes I use from Mudgee is that it is hugely better and now quite usable. I find the routes are closer to Google Maps if you use the Shorter Routes setting as it still has a tendency to use some slightly longer ways on Faster Route than Google or TomTom which seems to relate to longer calculated trip times. I noticed it also correctly plots the Tuncurry trip Allypally posted some time ago as an example of poor mapping even with 2012 map.
So, I am happy at this stage and will be using it regularly to further assess but it is definitely now usable.

Has anyone with an MY13 had their maps updated successfully? Jeep still don't seem to be able to update my Trailhawk.

No problems on my MY13 Overland. I waited while they did it. Took all of about 10-15 minutes.

Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

Still no joy. Seems the dealers in the Newcastle area have been kept in the dark about updating. The letter with the code means nothing to them.

I suspect a bit of fibbing or selective memory. I have a service booking at Hunter Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge/Wallys at Gateshead for next week to have a second attempt at the upgrade - they certainly know about it - they showed me one set of update discs (which didn't work) about a month ago, and they knew about the letter then also. Tracy assures me that they now have another set which will work, so next week will tell.

I got some action after I sent an email to Glenn Jones, so if the dealers still give you the run around, might be worth sending him a note.

cheers

You did a great service to fellow jeep owners
So well done,

It is a pity the tribunal did not also put an order on Jeep to return to the tribunal with evidence that they had in fact done and completed what they said they would do.

I wonder when will they realize its cheaper to provide real customer service up front

Finally - after a 3 hour wait while the service guys organised a login to Navteq ( just forgot that it seems) they were able to validate my code and get the new code which is actually needed to perform the update. No need for a service at the same time after getting Glenn Jones involved.

Actual update then took about 20 minutes. The route plotted from the dealer to my house went from 48km to 21km so if that is indicative it will be a major improvement.

So at least one Newcastle dealer can do the upgrade - go gettem Orpheus.

My thanks again to Bungendore and the team for all the effort and stress they put in to getting a solution for all of us.
