Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

I would go and print it off and take it in - that's what I use to do with TSBs with my WJ. Just had a quick look and think it is TSB 23-013-13. http://www.wk2jeeps.com/tsb/tsb_wk2_2301313.pdf

Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

I had an nav fail today. Dickson St Artarmon, the maps said that 51 was the Eastern end, when it is the western end.
Funny thing is that Jeep service for SVM is right near there. They were probably wondering why a Jeep was going around the block. Fix the ****en Nav system Jeep !!!!

Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

Told by Tracey at Jeep Australia Customer service this week that "Jeep can't fix the sat nav". My maps on my Nov 2012 shows 2011. I have contacted Navteq who tell me that Chrysler will only buy map updates once a year. But if you had a Triton or Subaru you can buy the updates from the last quarter of 2012.

Seems it is Jeep Australia stopping us getting an update.

But there is still a software issue with routing and until Jeep get that fixed - AND STOP BLAMING NAVTEQ - we all still have faulty, dangerous sat navs.

Have just got an Overland. Where do I check what version I have and what is the latest version.

Thanks

Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

Interesting that they just can't get their stories right. In short, since at least Dec 2011 they have known the sat nav doesn't work. Have a look at these:

GPS points of interest
satnav problems
Navteq update

So I urge you to test your sat nav. We are certain it is also faulty. Report it to Jeep Customer Services - they know all about it and have numerous cases on file. Get a case number. As you can see, they have been promising updates for over a year now. I know of 3 Jeep owners presently starting legal action and I am sure details of the cases will become known in the near future.

Love my Jeep. Hate the sat nav. Not just useless, dangerous if you relied on it. We were recently in Renmark and used the sat nav to find medical assistance. Sat nav said drive to Mildura. And we later found Renmark has its own hospital and medical group.

Good luck and let us know how you go.

Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

I dont think that POI (points of interest) can ever be relied on, and suspect it could not be fought in a law case.
However, the Routing issue is very different. There is a real fundamental flaw in the Jeep's routing configeration, which has well and truly been documented in the various threads. This is what needs to be individually tested, and raised with Jeep Customer Service.
Basically, when outside of main cities, the routing does not recognise many roads for routing, even though they are displayed on the screen. If the shortest routs between 2 counrty towns is via a minor road, or even a minor hwy, the system will ignore it, and try to route you via the main hwy. eg: Hume hwy. Even though this could add several hundered klms to your trip, the routing will not accept the shortest, or even quickest solution.

Here in the West, it goes further than that. It will not route on even major highways, if they come up as "unverified". Eg it will not route from Perth to Albany on the Albany Highway. This is a major highway that has always been there.

Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

Does anyone know if this has ever been fixed. I have a Subaru Outback (late 2011) with a hopeless Sat Nav system that has led us into some pretty bad places. I'm hoping the MY14 Limited is much improved.

Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

Rumour has it that the MY14 does not have the routing issue. We will have to wait until a MY14 tests it. Someone said the new Chrysler 300's dont suffer from the problem.

Hope you are right. Still feel uncomfortable (about the specs) having ordered a car on what the dealer "thinks" may have been changed since the MY13.

Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

I tested the nav on local roads the eastern suburbs of Sydney today in my new Overland and I am also getting some inconsistent/bizarre results.

I rang the customer assistance and spoke to someone called Robert on the 1300 number. He advised it is known issue and he gave me a reference number so it is locked into their system. He advised that a fix is due but would not give me an ETA.

Seems to me that with all the complaints and the reluctance to give a time for the fix, if indeed it can be fixed, then perhaps a more proactive group action should be considered. I know in my case that one of the reasons for buying the Overland was the inbuilt nav system and it is not unreasonable to expect it to work as advertised. I am sure with their current advertising campaign they would not want a negative slant from a current affairs program picking this up.

What do others think we can do

One of our members is about to commence legal proceedings, so if you are willing to supply the Case Number, it may assist.
