Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail and diff whine

I have had my Trailhawk for 2 days now. A mixture of delight and disappointment.

Rides brilliantly, comfortable, almost everything works well, looks great.

However,

First time I used the GPS was a fail.

A simple trip to the local shops - about 15k, became a 45k run using the freeway.

Switching from fastest route to shortest route calculation did not make any difference. However, when I told the GPS to ignore freeways, it did select the right route. Hard to tell if this is dud software or dud mapping data.

Count me in to any class action.

There is a smell of exhaust fumes in the cockpit if the A/C is not on recycle.

Also, at any speed over about 40 k, there is a pronounced whine coming from the rear - in the old days I would have suspected a badly adjusted diff.

Is this likely to fade as the car wears in or is it back to the dealer for me?

Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

I seem to remember that there is a TSB for a faulty turbo gasket that can put fumes int he cabin. Might be best to get it to a dealer to get ti sorted.

Wow, thanks. You must have a good memory. The TSB seems to relate to 2011 models, but I will check with the dealer anyway.

Thanks again

Also, be sure to lodge your Nav System with Customer Care as a complaint and get a case no. That way if they are ever able to get a fix organized, you will be on the hit list. Ask for Tracy.

Actually, there's a point.

Fatboy, when you phone re the Nav system, ask for Tracy and ask her if others have had any problems with the Nav and tell us what she says?

Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

All, I noticed today at my 20k service they updated my radio with RRT 12-067 http://www.wk2jeeps.com/tsb/tsb_wk2_0805312.pdf

I was told that this fixes the POI issues and included some "enhancements", what ever that means. I haven't had a chance to test it out yet.

No. That is not a fix. That will only a accuracy correction of the GPS.

I rang today. Tracy wasn't there - the person I spoke to said this was a known problem and that they are expecting a fix very soon, LOL. I have my case number, so I guess I just wait now.

Just as an update, I ran a test yesterday. Set up a route to the local shopping centre - which is about 15k normally. . Nav system plotted a route of about 45k. I drove along the roads I would normally take and after countless "make a U turn when Possible" and "turn left now", it finally started to guide me along the correct route. Sounds like software problem rather than the maps, or perhaps both.

Re: Jeep Navigation System Fail

I have lodged a claim with Jeep about my GPS. No 257982.
Is this the correct place to record it?
