Re: Jeep service costs

This can only be a good thing as there is now transparency in servicing costs and all dealers will have to honour it.

I was expecting my upcoming 20k service to be closer to $600 considering I paid $440 for the 10k 6 months ago.

Those transmission oil changes are a killer, but I thought it wasn't required on the ZF 8 speed.....

edit: The 100k service should be the same as the 20k service, with some extra for coolant. The 200k adds coolant and the diesel fuel filter.

Re: Jeep service costs

I don't know how long we'll hold on to the Grand before changing it out, as I have a suspicion it might be better to do something before this one is too long in the tooth. However given we tow with ours the trans fluid will be changed at something like the interval stated, irrespective of whether it's ultimately recommended or not.

Cheers,
Steve

That's exactly my understanding also.

Although if you are towing as Steve does, the change of tranny oil/filter would most likely be beneficial.

Re: Jeep service costs

Yep, but otherwise, don't use the capped servicing price for the 100k and instead get a quote from a dealer for the actual required service. Seems Jeep need to sort this one out.

I notice that the MY11-13 is a lot cheaper for the 5 speed service:

100,000km deisel
Engine Oil$159.14
Engine Oil Filter$61.27
Air Conditioning Filter$26.57
Windscreen Washer Fluid$1.65
Engine Coolant$41.72
Transmission Oil$132.61
Transmission Filter$36.60
Sundries$45.00
Labour Amount$345.00
TOTAL $849.56

Re: Jeep service costs

At ozzy park jeep I just paid $570 for the following:

-30000km service (Quoted $450)
-1xwheel nut $13 Which they forgot to put on and I had to tell them it was still missing
-engine oil flush $47
-Safety stop test $37
-Wheel alignment $80 (Can confirm it was out)
-DISCOUNT of $74 for the Mopar oil filter coupon... Which they tried to rip me on. They told me it would be worth $50 but their computer system wouldnt put it though because that price was to far under cost
-the rest of the cost was made up of sundries and waste removal.

Cant say I am very happy with their whole service. I had to wait 45 min for them to do the paper work and then another 10 mins to get someone to put the wheel nut on. The guy at the counter also added up the total wrong.. I had to show him on the calculator

I also nearly had an argument with the guy about my car not being cleaned. The excuse was "The cleaner is off work due to a surgery".. aahhh ok then take that price off the total? noooo they tried to pedal BP car wash vouchers. I walked out with 3, however I will be having a stern word to the servicing manager tomorrow.

It seems you cant take you Jeep anywhere in Perth!

Re: Jeep service costs

I updated the service spreadsheet to also have the new Capped price costs below each.
Worth noting is the Yellow Note re servicing transmission.

2011-2014 WK Grand Cherokee Service Schedule

I was going to email ZF and ask about service shcedule, but here is an answer on another forum - 2014 with 8 Speed ZF tranny - JeepForum.com

"This is from ZF responding to an Audi owner with the 8spd transmission. 2013
Your ZF automatic transmission is filled maintenance-free with specially developed partially synthetic ATF oil. Maintenance-free fills are intended for normal operating conditions.

However, especially driving at very high operating temperatures can result in accelerated aging or increased wear of ATF oils. It is recommended, in the event of severe operating
conditions, such as:

- frequent highway driving in top speed range,
- offensive, sporty driving style,
- frequent trailer operation,

Being above average, oil purification (oil change) on automatic transmissions is recommended between 80,000 km and 120,000 km, or 8 years, depending on the load.

In each case, only released ATF oil may be used for oil changes. And oil changes must be performed in accordance with the relevant specifications.

Re: Jeep service costs

Fixed price servicing is great. Even greater would be to change the Australian servicing intervals to 20000 Klm.

I've now done nearly 45000 K, 20000 of that towing 3.5 tonnes of caravan around Aust, and apart from minor software glitches, no problems at all. However, I replaced the tyres in WA after 30000K.

Re: Jeep service costs

I just got off the phone with the Osbourn Park Jeep service manager and he informed me Jeeps Servicing "Menu".. Something close to capped pricing I guess.

's Official Chrysler Jeep Dodge Car Dealership

Very very interesting as they quoted me $450 (Discount price) before I got my Jeep done, and on the site it states it should be $388!!!

Oil Sump Plug $20.91....that is a lot for a copper washer. Might supply my own.
