Here's the website for you to double-check.

After seeing Snukes post about the Mopar service pricing, I now wonder if the quotes might be somewhere near the mark when you you take into account I have the off road pack which includes a LSD. I'm not sure if there might be something else to consider with the ORII pack and air suspension.

No, that has nothing to do with schedule service costs, NOTHING.

Jeep service costs

I agree with Snuke. I have a Laredo with air suspension and ORA but have never been asked this by a dealer when I have been obtaining quotes for services. Nor does it come up in the Mopar Menu.

After my experience with the Mopar Menu, I'd be ringing JA customer service and complaining if a dealer refused to honour the published cost for a service.

I've half expected dealers to arc up about the Chief bash plate I have - harder to get to the sump plug or some rubbish - but none (I've used 3 dealers) have ever raised this as an issue.

Massive savings to be had using OEM parts and mobil 1 esp oil at a non dealer workshop during warranty then the same parts but changing to the North American schedule outside of warranty.

I'll do a comparison spreadsheet

Those with the rear ELSD require a diff oil with modifier, as detailed here http://www.wk2jeeps.com/wk2_maintenance.htm#FAXLE

Another reason why I don't take my Jeep to an authorised dealer is because they'll not identify you have ELSD and put the wrong oil in. If you do, I would be extensively communicating this to them. Heck, laminate a sign to the steering wheel or to be safe attach a trailer with a billboard.

As far as service cost they are probably charging everyone for the fancier ELSD oil . Which is over $100 per litre... ouch!

I agree, especially for those of us who do lower kms and don't tow. Some of the scheduled items seems strange. The Brake fluid every 40k? The wk2 jeeps site doesn't show any scheduled refill. Coolant at 100k? US schedule says 160k kms. Diesel fuel filter, US schedule says 48k kms, but then the site says 80k kms (50,000 miles).

Seeing these prices has definitely got me thinking about using aftermarket filters, the fluid costs I can live with.

Re: Jeep service costs

So here is what I'll probably end up doing to out of warranty. On the basis I do about 12k a year, so time based intervals is probably forcing a bit of over servicing, and I do a bit of offroading:

*Oil/filter Change - 1 year/15k (US Schedule)
*Engine air filter - Inspect every 12 months and replace as needed (DIY)
*Air con filter - Inspect every 12 months and replace as needed (DIY)
*Diesel fuel filter - 3 years/50k (US Schedule)
Transfer case fluids 4 years/80k (50k Offroading/towing)
Diff/Axle fluids 4 years/80k (50k Offroading/towing)
Transmission fluids - N/A (100k Offroading/Towing)
Brake fluid - when replacing pads
Coolant - Inspect every 12 months and replace as needed
Serpentine belt - Inspect every 12 months and replace as needed

*Items subject to schedule while under warranty period

And I'd be looking to save a bit on parts by using wesfil/Ryco filters or mopar filters bought online.

OEM Charcoal cabin filter: 68260792AA
OEM Engine Air filter: 04861688AA
OEM Oil filter: 68229402AA
OEM Diesel Fuel Filter: 4726067AA
OEM Serpentine Belt: 4627167AA

Cabin Filter $76.97 (Charcoal in the diesel ~$130), $52 OEM genuineautoparts.com.au
Engine Air filter $55.72, Wesfil WA5135 $18
Oil filter $80.90, RYCO R2737P $15
Diesel fuel filter $175.86, RYCO R2745P $45
Serpentine Belt $103, $51 OEM genuineautoparts.com.au

Re: Jeep service costs

Fixed price servicing came just in time for me - 40k service due on a CRD.
Back in July quoted $1400+ for service in Cairns; $1200+ for Townsville.
Waited until closer to Townsville - now 960 (from memory); paid $782.66 because I supplied the fuel filters (had them whilst going through outback WA in case of bad fuel - never needed them).

Was going to supply the oil but could not find any Mobil 1. They used Castrol Edge and when questioned said it met the spec required.

No car wash though (have to save somewhere to cover their reduced charge).

Cheers
Phil

I'm right with you on that, very similar thoughts, I refuse to pay extortionate service prices when I KNOW that the quality of service is quite often well below par.
Some more thoughts:
Ryco fuel oil and air filters? You bet!
I've used them on other cars for the last 40 odd years, never had a problem, so why would I change now? Wesfill are almost certainly just as good after close inspection.
Charcoal cabin filter? Nice to have perhaps, but not essential for me, paper is fine. Most cars I've owned have never even HAD a cabin filter, yet I have never had issues with odours.
Diff oil? I'll be using Redline, pricey but top quality, and have had great results with that in previous vehicles.

The "capped" or published service prices are an improvement, but still leave a lot to be desired- especially when I hear of things like incorrect spec oil being used, and being charged ridiculous prices for sump plugs. What a load of shite! That is pure robbery.
In my experience, you can get MANY oil changes out of a sump plug washer, and when the washer needs replacing, can be bought for under a buck! Even if replaced every change,(not needed!), a dollar or so would be reasonable for the washer, and the sump plug should last the life of the engine if correct tools are used. Maybe some Jeep dealers use gold washers and plugs.

Some of the money I save will go towards a transmission fluid change at about 40-50,000 kms, done by a ZF transmission specialist, not my Jeep dealer. (I do a lot of towing.)
Many dealers see their servicing department as a licence to print money, playing on people's fears about warranty. Australian consumer law means those fears are unfounded!
