Re: Jeep service costs

This break I'm planning to do my transmission service. Noting I have a NAG1 tranny, I ordered one of these to make the next service a bit easier and to give the tranny a bit more fluid.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ilpage_o00_s00

I also managed to get 12 quarts of Genuine Mopar Fluid 5013457AA ATF+4 Automatic Transmission Fluid delivered early in 2015 for $160 from Amazon.

Good to hear you are doing your own tranny. The deep pan sounds like a great idea. Let us know how you get on. I'd be worried about clearance issues with skid plates etc.

Changed the filters to no avail. I'm wondering whether others have noticed a noisy fuel pump when standing near the LHR door?

Thanks
Damn you for mentioning this. I've now heard it too . But as you guessed, yes it is the fuel pump and nothing at all to worry about. It's just the electric fuel pump telling you it's alive and well and doing it's job. It cuts in intermittently as required to keep fuel up to the injector pump on the engine. It is the injector pump that does the real grunt work.

Yes, clearance could be an issue, only one way to find out.

I'll provide an update when the motivation is sufficient for me to give it a crack.

Re: Jeep service costs

Had my 50,oooklm service done last week by Tynan's Wollongong.
The fixed price service quoted was $414.55. That basically included an engine oil change plus filter, sump plug washer and windscreen washer additive.
The invoice came to $811.45.
The work completed was for the above, as well as,
Oil Pan Gasket $41
Transmission Filter $ 34
Replace Transfer Case oil $120
Transmission oil $108
Transmission fluid $43
When questioned why the transmission was not part of the fixed price, I was told that Jeep Aust had changed the scheduling for the transmission so it was no longer a p[art of that service. Mind you, the Jeep Aust website still shows these as part of that service.
They also undertook the Recalls
Wiring Fuel Pump relay
EGR hose replacement
They did not have the parts available for the Sun Visor wiring. This is the 2nd service where they have come up with this excuse.
On Tuesday I placed a call with FCA support questioning the difference in the service schedules, but still await their response.

I gave Tynan's a 8/10 survey score. They were pleasant, but I did notice that some of the work had not been carried out. The windscreen washer fluid was low, as was the engine oil level. I had to add a 1/3 ltr when I returned home.

Re: Jeep service costs

Don't understand the reference to transmission oil? Surely it's the fluid which makes that reference strange?
Also the fluid (oil) costs seem very cheap for ATF+4. I wonder what brand that put in? They stealers charge like $30AUD a Quart for Mopar AFT+4.

Re: Jeep service costs

I looked up the codes
CH68218058GA OIL TRANSMISSION ATF+4 = 5ltr $108
CH68218057GA FLUID TRANSMISSION ATF+4 = 1 ltr (x2) $43
So basically they used just under 7Ltrs of ATF+4 = $151

Re: Jeep service costs

The codes simply relate to the quantity in the container.

Ok that makes sense, swapping the term fluid and oil threw me.
