Re: Jeep service costs

Just as an update, I checked the US Mobil site. There are 9 different Mobil 1 engine oils. Mobil 1 ESP Formula 5w-30 is still the only one that is approved to Chrysler MS-11106. There is a Mobil 1 ESP Formula 0w-30 but it doesn't have the Chrysler approval.

Curiously the Oz Mobil site lists Mobil 1 ESP Formula 5w-30 but doesn't indicate the Chrysler approval. I would guess that is more of a legal technicality than a formulation issue.

When I questioned about the price difference the service dept told me there was a memo from Jeep saying that the transmission oil does not need replacing till 160k kilometres or if there is a leak, why didn't the other dealers know this or were they just after the $$$$$'s. Don't they know people will price check especially when it comes down to the sometimes high servicing costs. Really love my 2012 JGC it's the best car I have owned, fantastic economy from the diesel when towing or just driving around and 1150 klm range on one tank when not towing I am really happy with that.

Hi, I am also from Perth looking to do my 60k service. Who did you end up using?

Re: Jeep service costs

Finally had a win. See posts 1367 and 1369 where I reported Jeep Aust to the ACCC for misleading fixed price servicing and changing the servicing schedules without informing owners.
After the ACCC got involved, Jeep have decided to refund the amount charged for the gearbox and diff oil changes. $341, being the difference to the quoted fixed price service and what was charged to carryout the items listed in my handbook.

Good job Alan. Taking action through ACCC helps us all.

Re: Jeep service costs

Great work by Alan. It's so tyring that one has to be prepared for battle when visiting a dealer. For that reason I avoid them like the plague. Just got call from a nice young lady at Suttons Waitara asking why I haven't been back and feeding me some bull about a free extended warranty. I simply told her I do my own servicing. If it had been a guy, I might have been more verbose.
