Re: Jeep service costs

My dealer (hunter jeep) just quoted me $1140 for the 80,000km service, saying its the Jeep Australia fixed price. But my $40,000km service cost me about $500. I tried to check on the Mopar service website, but can't get to the prices - the "select make" button is not there.
Can anyone send me a working link?
Thanks,
Russell

I had the same issue when I tried to look a couple of days ago. Heard that some dealers had been complaining about it and trying to charge more.
The 80,000 service includes changing diff and transfer case oils.
I think it was Service and Warrantys link that you click on that gives you the breakdown of what gets done on each service.

Thanks Trevor. I printed those service shedlues out, and they pretty much agree with the handbook. But the dealers schedule seems to be different in a few ways. I spent some time on the phone with them trying to figure out what changed relative to my cheaper 40k service. There were some differences (transfer case was one), but nothing that could add up to the $800 or so difference. Parts alone for the 80k they said were $900+. And to confuse things a bit more, they did the transfer case at the 60k service. And they did not replace the brake fluid even though it would have been due then.
So im going with a local mechanic who has a good reputation. I sat down with him and went through what his computer told him was the log book service, and added some items from the handbook and the stuff I printed out, plus brake fluid replacement, and deleted the transfer case oil.
Final figure is $950. I might even add the transfer case oil back in even though it should be only half way through its scheduled life.
Thanks,
Russell

Re: Jeep service costs

It is a bit confusing because they have changed the schedules with informing us or sending out new manuals.
Your 80,000 quote seems strange if it is $1140 with $950 in parts. Labour is cheap.
From memory the 80,000 service use to include a transmission service but that has now been moved to 100,000. Looks like they have included the parts for that in the price.

I mis-typed that - it was $1340

Re: Jeep service costs

The transfer case fluid change was originally at 40,000. When I had my 80,000 service I told them not to change the fluid as it had been done at 40,000. Which made the next change due at 120,000. Same thing but - had to go through the service and what was to be done on a line by line basis with the dealer.

Ask if that includes the transmission service that is not due until 100,000

Just checked - the Mopar Service Menu has mysteriously disappeared from the web page.

Very handy to have, as I don't think it will come back onto the Jeep system.
Noticed that the transmission service has gone from the 100000 and is now not on any service schedule.

I had read before - presumably on this forum somewhere - that the transmission is now "sealed for life".

Re: Jeep service costs

They say sealed for life, but I think the general consensus is 100k or sooner if towing a lot. It costs about $1k for the service, but I'd be taking it to a ZF specialist.
