Quotes from 3rd parties like mobile mechanics are about $140 cheaper so I'm not sure whether to just use one of those.

Yup, I got it done for about 604$ (40K on a Laredo 4x4 v6 petrol) yet there is a FCA poster that states it should have cost north of 900$. I wonder if the dealers are choosing to ignore certain things from the service to keep costs down and keep customers happy? I too called up FCA prior to taking in the JGC, but they were no help whatsoever ever " we are not technical , we know the website's pricing model is down, but we don't know why or how long it will take, and can't help you in the pricing "

Re: Jeep service costs

Good point there, I guess I should go and look up what's supposedly being done in case they skip anything important.

Sounds like you guys want everything done but dont want or realize it does add up on costs. Keep on mind an hr of labour doesnt go far.

I'm all for condition based maintenance but "the service guys felt..." is ridiculous. You could ask them to show you the chemical analysis of the transfer case oil that proves it's still OK... or you could ask a monkey, you'll probably get the same answer. How about writing to FCA telling them that because one of their dealers chose not to undertake maintenance stipulated in the manual, you hold FCA responsible for any consequential damages resulting directly or indirectly from the failure to undertake scheduled maintenance?

Re: Jeep service costs

Are you serious bob? Jfyi i run a workshop on gear worth hundreds of thousands more than our jeeps. My guys make those trained decisions on a daily basis. Believe me customers are appreciative that we dont waste their money when sometimes service items arent quiet ready to be changed out. And yes we do have the anal ones that want everything by the book and are also happy to pay. What i dont get are the ones that want everything done but then whinge and whine over the costs...my suggestion dont own a vehicle that you arent prepared to spend the money on servicing it.

Gee the struggle is real mate isn't it...

Guess I should apologise to you for posting on this thread about Jeep servicing to try and make sure I get a fair deal and have the correct work done on my Jeep.

Certainly wasn't after something for nothing, more interested in not being ripped off, which seems to be a sport for Jeep service centres.

Thanks anyway for chipping in with your unwanted opinion, I'll be in touch if I want to hear more. 🖕🏻

Cheers, Simon

Re: Jeep service costs

The only reason why I wrote what I did was it differed significantly from the price modelling FCA had for the 40k service before the site went down. They quoted me the 900+$ when I dropped off the car, and I said I'll pay, then I returned and saw the 600 or so est. from jeep that I had screenshot earlier. So I asked what was not done so that the service became so much cheaper, and that's when they said we didn't feel it necessary so now what happens when my car breaks down, after the service and warranty is over who will be responsible, plus I am having to tell my dealer what service is due, because of all the times the car went in for repairs and my work got affected and I had to relocate after the repair works were done, that the service got delayed to a point where I am a year behind my scheduled service, I have NEVER said I won't pay the requisite amount, but they should satisfy my concerns especially when my car is meant to be hauling me (and my family occasionally) from place to place, and requires me to get home, either 8 km in a day or a 600km round trip.
All I get back from the service dept. is servicing done as per plan, the first owners would itemise what they had done, now for the second time running I have no idea on what's been done, except the washer fluid/oil+filter/sump and a bill for 600$

Re: Jeep service costs

So effectively, you paid $600 for an oil and filter change? For a petrol engine (if I have that right)? What a great business!!

Re: Jeep service costs

Took this shot while giving my GC back to the dealer the other day (apologies for quality, looks crisp on my phone ) -

FCA have rented a Kluger (Jeep could learn by driving one of these) for me while they fix mine so I had a peak at Toyota service pricing, most expensive is a Toyota Coaster (diesel), $360. LandBruiser 70 (diesel) is $310 and these are flat prices for 3 years. FCA are raping us for servicing.
