Re: Jeep service costs

More or Less... you had quality parts and oil fitted, becuase you supplied them yourself and didn't have to hope that the dealer used qusality parts.

Re: Jeep service costs

We've just had a 30k service done - total price $691.00
This included replacing fuel filters (early as a precaution), cabin filter and all the other regular stuff, and me supplying my own oil. I've posted in another thread my dismay at the fuel filter pricing......
Our vehicle has had a dealer 10k and 20k regular service and at 26k I was surprised to have the "oil change required" message come up. It got annoying so I reset it myself.

When at the dealership today I mentioned they must have neglected to reset the indicator at the 20k and got the response that they don't reset the indicator unless it is on.
I'm sure that while the vehicle is connected to the computer there must be a box they can tick but maybe they just don't bother - or more likely the vehicle doesn't get hooked up.

Got me to thinking - if my dealer didn't reset at 10k and 20k then it took the Jeep till 26K to arrive at a service decision.
We've done lots of highway runs in the year of ownership and just maybe that was an influence.
In Europe the service interval for the CRD is 20K and in NZ it is 12K.

I know Mercedes and BMW encourage owners to service according to the indicator - so being cynical are we conditioned to have extra services to enhance dealer profits?
If its good enough for so called high end vehicles with similar mechanicals - why isn't it good enough for Jeep?

Re: Jeep service costs

Thats a good point. Mine came on at exactly 20k and I reset it myself after the service. The handbook mentions it works on the duty cycle of the oil which I guess is a long string of computed permutations, stop starts, throttle, rpm's etc......I would anticipate long periods at 2000rpm (average cruise) is less wear and tear on the oil than cold starts...short journeys.....my BMW was only serviced when the service light came on however I always changed the oil every 12months irrespective....that thing ran over 200,000kms and was still going strong when I sold it. .......however, I've got to mention that 30k service cost is worrying as the service book puts it in the same category as the 10k service...and you supplied your own oil and filter? I bet the V8 owners are doing the sums and are now glad with their choice!!!

Re: Jeep service costs

Except the V8 owners who have towed backwards and forwards across the country and are still paying off the second mortgage to pay for the fuel

Re: Jeep service costs

My point is not foreseeing $1700 in service costs for a mere 30k of driving (Plus the Kuhmo's are shot!!)

Re: Jeep service costs

Service intervals?I just received a service reminder letter from SVM at Mosman saying:
" your vehicle manufacturer recommends servicing at every 6 months or 12000 km which ever comes first "
I keep reading 10000 km for first service in all these post. Has this changed recently ?

Re: Jeep service costs

I was very shocked to receive the bill for my 10,000klm service. I supplied the oil, and the bill came to $1.10 (just over $1.) Mind you, they didn't wash the car.

The diesel gets 10,000km services in Australia, 12,000km is for petrol GC's

Ha..haaaa.....but did they wind back the Mygig back a revision to 2.126? That alone is worth a trip to the dealer!

Re: Jeep service costs

Yes they did. LOL. Took me 15mins to roll forward to 2.136 when I returned home.
I am suspecting they made an error with the bill, but to date, they have not questioned it.
Actual Costs were
OIL: I supplied $130
FILTER: Free using MOPAR voucher
LABOUR: $1.10
