I don't know what I'm doing wrong but have tried the above procedure more than a dozen times but oil life is still stuck at what it was ie about 87% now.
No problem, it worked first time. However, mine is an MY12. It doesn't have your fancy shmancy % oil life thingo, just a message that pops up saying oil change required.

You also require a licensed mechanic to stamp the book, or you will have warranty issues. I pay for the 15mins work by the dealer and the stamp in the book.
To those who are changing their own oil, where do you buy the filter and o-ring? My Laredo has just ticked over 10K and I am happy to do the oil/filter change myself (and any other fluids change that is needed). Like Enforcer, I am then "happy" to take it to a dealer to get them to do any tsb updates, kick the tyres, stamp my service book and keep my warranty in tact. I have been looking for information on service schedules for the WK2. I found some good information on http://www.wk2jeeps.com/wk2_maintenance.htm but all of the listed schedules apply to other countries? Does anyone know what one of these I should be following for an Australian MY14 CRD?

I just get the filter that comes with O ring from Jeep spare parts, about $55.

My MY12 came with a service and warranty handbook, albeit generic that essentially results in over servicing.

I paid $509 for my 30k service, which the GC Limited has only done 26k and they reckon I need 4 New tyres @ $380 a pop.

Re: Jeep service costs

I am also a +1 for the Westfil filters. They look identical to the OEM ones and under 1/2 the cost. I just bought a few in one hit to save on shipping. Got 2 x oil/ 1 air and 1 cabin filter.

Re: Jeep service costs

Hi everyone, new to the Forum - just had my 2012 GC Petrol serviced on Monday. 39668k's on the clock - $777.93 cents
Replaced the front and rear drive axle fluid, that oil alone came to $367.41 (plus GST)
They did warn me and say the next one will be expensive.....

Mark.

Welcome Mark, there is plenty of information available in the various threads here.
What is expensive on a 50k service for a petrol WK2?

You won't be the first to discover that not all dealers operate from the same playbook…..
It may be worth your while spending some time going through the threads that interest you - this thread on service costs for example. I posted this a couple of pages back (mine is a diesel however)

"50k service today…….
Price paid - $276.55
I supplied my own oil (Mobil 1 ESP Formula 5W30).

Essentially this was a standard service - despite the service booklet saying "change automatic transaxle fluid". Dealer says booklet is incorrect - this should be at 120K and will be around $500. Something to look forward to as it is a special Chrysler spec oil."

Lots of people on here have found research can result in significant savings.
John
