Opinions?

No ... Just no!

I would trust my 8 year old brother to service my car before I would trust those monkeys touch It again .... They left my car with dirty finger prints, didn't re set service reminders, took weeks to organise mud flaps and then when they did fit them did a terrible job by leaving plastic tabs hanging off and not screwing all the screws in and so forth.

Currently trolling the threads trying to find a suitable replacement dealer for my 20k service.

There is another mob in town (near west side autos) that allegedly do a good jeep service, but I find when you go to sell, people want to see a genuine service centre stamp in the books .... And money talks

Hope you find a good place to go

I was talking with the mechanic/race shop that looks after my race car about the obscene amount of money Jeep are charging for the services and to ensure the right oil was being used the owners would purchase there own oil.
He couldn't believe how much they were charging for the service.
He is going to chase up some prices on the genuine parts and Mobil 1 oil and get back to me with a price

Re: Jeep service costs

Just to kick start you - i paid $243.20 for 20l of Mobil 1 ESP and you can easily get aftermarket Wesfil filters to suit the WK2 from Eziauto Parts online.
I use their air, fuel (2x required) and cabin filters and they are realistically priced and easy to deal with.
For the CRD oil filter I use the genuine one (@$59) when the dealer does the service using my supplied oil. Helps me to maintain a relationship that I have needed from time to time.

Hi John. $243 for 20 liters is $40 better than what I'm paying. Where are you getting that?

I feel your pain. Do the plastic tabs have a ring on them? The ring is intended to be a spacer behind one of the screws. Clearly they didn't read the instructions, why would they, after all they are trained mechanics

I dunno how many WK2s I've seen with the little plastic circle sticking out from the rear mudflats, still attached.
I'm sure that no dealer "mechanic" ever reads the instructions. Wonder what they are thinking this sticky out thing is supposed to do?

And to answer Swampy - I got my first drum from Pacific Petroleum - there is an agency in Burleigh Heads close to me and they got it down from Brisbane at what I thought was a pretty god price. I'm up for another 20l before the next service.

It's definitely one of the following:
  1. A vortex generator to kill the spray off the mud flaps, or
  2. an ultrasonic whistle to frighten off roos sitting by the roadside, or
  3. it contains a ferrite ring that is picked up by the sensors to tell the ESC what the mudflaps are doing, or
  4. a loop for hanging the mudflaps up when storing over summer, or
  5. a ventury for measuring undisturbed air speed, or,,, or... I'm done!

Yep same same!
My little circles are pointing in so they don't really scare the roos very well.
So do they go under the screw head or between the mudflap and the body.

Well Peter - that's likely why they don't work.
The little circles are sticking out on the dealer installed mudflaps.

And the instructions state they go under the screw head. I can't remember which one as I have long since diced the instructions - the only thing I could think of was perhaps to shorten the self tapper, but sticking my finger up inide the liner I couldn't feel anything.

Geeze thats a worry. Means that either they have fitted the mudflaps arse about or my Jeep is inside out. I tried facing the other way but it didn't improve. Lol. Might try standing on my head!!!
