My jeep has done 33K and had the call from dealer two weeks ago to bring it for 40k service as time has elapsed. Still in two minds to book it in this week or not.

Re: Jeep service costs

I am booked in for my first service this week - the 1000km check. Anything I should look out for/ask to be completed, like software updates etc? Where do I get information on updates?

If you are booked into Frizelles Southport, you are in good hands.

I noticed there is a new dealer at Blacktown - on the same site as Nissan near the hospital. I'm due for a service so ill give them a ring and see what their prices are like.

Yeah, saw an ad for them in the local paper. Let us know how you go.

Still a rip-off but that's Canberra for you; is a 40K service for $450 after I supplied all parts except diff oil. Original quote was $1200.

Not much choice down here.

For that amount of money it's worth taking a day off work, drive up to Narellan, take the missus out to Maccas.

Yeah, I've thought about it based on my mate's experience with Narellan but it isn't worth it for a couple of hundred bucks (his 40,000km service was about a grand 12 months ago). I'll reconsider if I'm not happy with local service but so far so good.

OK Jim, thanks for the response. I actually got a quote from gulsons for my 30k service, they were like $300 dearer. At least we have some competition in Canberra now.

Fyi, Rolfe and others still base service on time or km, whatever favours them. Saying that I have intentionally delayed my 40K by a month as I have only done 33K.

Re: Jeep service costs

If you have a good mechanic, why not go to him for servicing?. My SRT only goes to dealer for warranty work or updates, would not trust them with anything else. Just did my second oil/filter change with my own preference of oil, all done whilst i waited, actually i was under the hoist with mechanic whilst being done.

All done at a fraction of the cost of what dealer would have charged and drove away with the confidence knowing job was done right and not by some apprentice monkey.

I might do that next time. Although general mechanics won't have the proprietary diagnostic tools. Saying that I haven't thrown any codes which I monitor using my bluetooth scanner.
