That’s $1 under their official price, well done.

They put a Halvoline sticker on my windscreen. I will have to look into this oil, surprised they’re not using synthetic, back to reading the Oil thread. My first service is due end of this month.

All warranty work has a time application against it that the dealerships claim back from the brand. Your VIN would also be registered in the system so it doesn’t come up as a required action if you went to another dealer, or stops them from claiming the work more than once. If your VIN doesn’t come up against the warranty work, then they can’t claim it, so it becomes charged labour. This is why some people have found their Uconnect updates been done that actually rolls them back, because the VIN comes up in the update for a prior release. Now this should only happen if the update has just been released online and applied yourself before the dealers have it available. A few people on JG have reported this happening.

Nope, this update has nothing to do with your problem. See full list of what this update does here: http://www.wk2jeeps.com/tsb/tsb_wk2_0802114.pdf

This mistake is extremely bad. This is not just some courtesy or sales driven reminder, it is linked to how your system sees the oil condition and how it should be handled. It is directly linked to how the DPF is used.
If this reset was not done, we could pretty much guarantee you would be back there with a clogged DPF.

Zillanjnr, that seems a really expense service, noting $300 is essentially labour (with supplied oil/filter) providing for 2 - 2.5 hours of labour; the 10k service is more like 15 mins.
Actually the labour component was $243, waste oil levy $9.95 , workshop supplies $19.95 and GST of $27.30

Note to myself, make sure they detail on the invoice what oil i supplied to them, all they wrote is 'customer supplying own oil'.

I don't think the MY11 to MY13 have the oil life indication screen in the EVIC.

Hi Snuke,

Can you direct me to the literature where that is stated. I tried to tell our service manager this, and he wouldn't have a bar of it. He stated it is simply a visual indicator, and in no way linked to the DPF.

There is no literature that I got it from. I read a post on Cars Guide ask Smithy where a owner was changing the oil themselves and hadn't done the reset. They ended up with a clogged DPF they had to pay to replace. Smithy said it was their own fault as the reset was not done.
I made the suggestion in a few threads on here that this was also POSSIBLE with the GC. I can't remember when or in what thread, but several confirmed that this was the case.

Now I just read the article again, and I was wrong. It wasn't oil reset that wasn't being done, but they have an actual DPF reset that is required.
My original suggestion turns out to be based on not reading something properly, but after a few said it was the case that the GCs oil reset is linked to the DPF, I stopped saying it was a POSSIBILITY and starting saying it as fact.
In either case it is hardly reassuring either way.
So some where in here are a couple of people saying that my suggestion based on reading something incorrectly is true, for all I know they have done the same thing.
I will now stop saying this as fact.

However, what lots have said is that the oil life indicator is not just a basic visual indicator, that is very important that it gets reset or it can cause issue with the way the system handles itself.

Here is the article I have misread - http://www.carsguide.com.au/tools-an..._mazda3_diesel

Apologies if I have made anyone look like a dick over this.

I dropped in to the new Jeep dealer in Blacktown (NSW) today around 12.30pm. I wanted to enquire about servicing.. We stood around, looked at the GC in the yard, walked onto the office, looked at a Summit, my son sat in two Wranglers, took a photo.....

No sales people, no secretary, no one to be seen.

We walked over to the Nissan dealer on the same site, some dude came out and we asked if there was anyone around in the Jeep dealer - he didn't know. He did tell us that their service centre is down in Prospect, not at the dealership.

Walked back through the Jeep site looked at some other cars, but no one around. We'd been there maybe half an hour.

So we left.

I think I'll stick with Narellan.

Yep.

They did have some tarted up GC there. A couple of Laredo and Limited with black painted rims and red calipers and another Laredo with Spider monkeys and some no name brand 20" tyres.

But no one to sell me one....
