Enforcer, Bob. I did have similar concerns before I agreed to paying the $2,500 up front.
I said it made certain assumptions, including me still being in Sydney in 3 years.
After looking at the best prices being offered around Sydney, always being Narallen, and then looking at what happened with fix prices coming in on other brands, it still made sense.
The closer for me was the valet service. We won't need a loan car as they will be picking it up and dropping it off, Boxhead got the same deal with his today.
They (Waitara) won't be going under in 3 years, and their service has had neither positive or negative reviews from anyone.

Hell, even if I move back to Melbourne, technically they have to pick it up, service it and return from there too. Not sure I would appreciate having 2,000km added to my car every time it needs a service though.
If it was Narellan I might be tempted too.

When I mentioned the posibility of JA introducing fixed pricing Natasha said that she was aware of it but didnt think it would happen anytime soon.

But it is all hogwash if they cannot get the auto transmission fluid. I'm waiting for Blacktown to confirm when they could have the required parts for my 50K service before I book with them. Service manager is also trying to find out if my car is effected by brake recall. Also asked about the wheel alignment TSB that allypally found - Blacktown cannot do wheel alignments so would have to send the car to Parramatta.

What wheel alignment TSB? The alignment on my car has been completely out after being realigned.

Picked up by Alan :

Just noticed a new TSB for MY12-MY14 Grand Cherokees, relating to wheel alignments for RHD vehicles. TSB02-004-14a

SYMPTOM/CONDITION: Customer may describe a lead or drift to the left condition at steady state speeds of 56 KPH (35 MPH) and above.
DIAGNOSIS: If the customer describes the symptom, perform the Repair Procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE: 1. Test drive the vehicle on a left crowned road at 80 KPH (50 MPH) steady state speed. Position the vehicle in the center of the driving lane between the two lines designating the lane width. While holding the steering wheel with a controlled grip, allow the vehicle to find its own direction (simulating hands free). Record the amount of time it takes for the front **left** tire to touch the left hand line prior to making a correction to keep the vehicle in the lane. Repeat the procedure driving in the opposite direction (Example: If initial test is performed driving North, repeat the procedure driving South on the same road). Calculate the average time between the two tests. Is the average time for the vehicle to lead/drift to the edge of the lane greater or less than 7 seconds? a. Average time is less than 7 seconds>>> Proceed with the alignment camber specification change Step #2. b. Average time is greater than 7 seconds>>> This bulletin does not apply.
NUMBER: 02-004-14 REV. A
GROUP: Front Suspension
DATE: May 22, 2014
2. Align the vehicle using the front wheel camber settings listed in the following specification table. Refer to the detailed service procedures available in DealerCONNECT> TechCONNECT under: Service Info> 02 - Front Suspension> Wheel Alignment.

Re: Jeep service costs

So after doing the ring around today Ive booked my 50K service with Castle Hill in a few weeks. Quotes were :

$420 Blacktown
$560 Castle Hill
$750 Narellan

Blacktown could not g'tee they would have the auto fluid and could not do a wheel alignment. I had a long discussion with Narellan as they are my preference, they tried to get close by offering trade price and even went to trouble of doing their own ring around of other dealers. But in the end they could not get close to Castle Hill. Money talks. I also asked about the brake recall and Castle Hill confirmed that my GC is effected so they are going to attend to that too - heaven knows what they intend to do. Wish me luck...

Thanks for the wheel alignment TSB. WHAT HAPPENED TO NARELLAN as I think they tended to be the least expensive? When I raised the brake recall with my dealer, the service advisor said that he did not know the recall.

Are they changing the filters as per the logbook? Maybe put some markings etc on them just to be sure?

Dunno yet. Every other time I compared prices Narellan was cheaper so I didn't bother to compare this time. My car will be in until tomorrow as there is an A/C malfunction that is being repaired under warranty so I'll find out when I pick it up. I'd be very, very surprised if Castle Hill (my nearest dealer) is cheaper. Every time I've compared prices for my previous services, Castle Hill was the most expensive by far.

Another Waitara costumer I helped on Whirlpool got this deal:

"I'll also be taking the car back to suttons for service at fixed rate of $395 for 3 yrs, and then $275 after that. "

I think there is group of us here who have been pretty happy with Narrellan, when I was talking to Natasha yesterday she was very sorry to hear she is being under cut and sad to loose my business. Maybe we need to hold a deputation with the dealer principal and get a group service deal. Who wants to come?

I would be interested if the price were right.

Your are comparing dealer servicing dollar for dollar. One aught to be able to do that but unfortunately oils ain't oils, pardon the pun. Dealer servicing is unregulated other than by customer complaints. OK that is an assumption but does anyone really thing that Jeep does "secret customer" inspections of dealerships, I don't think so. As we know, what one dealer thinks is compliant is quite different to another. So go with the dealer that gives the most confidence regardless of the price, within reason. It is not worth handing a dealer a few hundred bucks and leaving disgruntled for the sake of a saving.
