The CRD takes 8.4lt of oil when you do the filter as well.
I hope they did not use their oil to top it up. Have you checked the oil level ?

Re: Jeep service costs

Well my oil levels are full, only makes me wonder more if the supplied oil was used in my situation.

Just had my 50k service at Narellan which came to $510 with me supplying oil and oil filter and having the wiper blades replaced by them. Got to talking to Natasha about the cost and she is well aware that customers have told her that Castle Hill is doing it for $420. She can't understand how they are doing it at that price as the transmission kit is $300 alone. Add ATF, oil, and filters plus the 3 hours labour and it just doesn't add up to $420, even if the labour was free. Take off the transmission service and that would probably account for the price difference.

My car was in for two days with some warranty work (tailgate struts and air con issue) and during that time I had the use of a loan car for free

Natasha also mentioned that Peter Warren at Liverpool is offering cut price servicing if you've bought your jeep from them. The catch is that the cost is built into the sale price. Nothing in this world is free.

I am a firm believer in the adage that if something sounds too good to be true, then it probably is.

I had a long discussion with Narellan as they are my preference, they tried to get close by offering trade price and even went to trouble of doing their own ring around of other dealers. But in the end they could not get close to Castle Hill. Money talks. I also asked about the brake recall and Castle Hill confirmed that my GC is effected so they are going to attend to that too - heaven knows what they intend to do. Wish me luck...

Good luck

Apparently there are no brake boosters in Australia for the recall and it is not expected they will be available until August.

Re: Jeep service costs

I'd be thinking twice for the next service at that rate.
I hope that is not the norm, or it would want to be fantastic customer service.

Narellan is part of the Peter Warren Group as far as I know.

Re: Jeep service costs

$145 per hour is a lot for a Jeep mechanic, as BMW charge that rate. The Mopar service center at Brookvale charge $110 p/h.
The issue I have is that it does not take 3 hours to do a 10k km service on our cars. They are done in just over 1hr, as the flash updates and recalls are not included.
My dashcam filmed the last 2 services, so I know they took under 1hr to do my CRD's service (excluding oil as I changed it).
If my dealer wants to charge fixed price, then so be it, but if they charge by the hour, then that is all they should get.
I worked as a dealer mechanic for Toyota and we used to do a logbook 2.5hr service in under 1.2hrs and would be paid a bonus for doing them quickly. The usually meant we cut corners, but were also good at doing what mattered.

Dealers really need to pull up their socks if they want to charge BMW rates for service.

Spoke to Natasha at narellan today.. Very personable.. $320 for 10k service 3.0 diesel and free loan car.. As a Canberra owner it cheaper for me to go to narellan than service locally!
Also as of today they now use caltex oil (I suspect havoline fully synthetic c3) however she was only told this morning and going to email me the details.. They still have shell helix ultra extra or can get the it preferred
