I could not imagine the exterior panels would be any different.

mmcrh.

There are no differences for these types of item. Only when you enter into the world of headlights, aftermarket steering wheels, steering column spare parts, brake booster parts etc is there likely to be any impact.

Re: Jeep service costs

There would be no such thing as seconds for these mudflaps.
If they came out blemished they would be thrown back into the tub of heated plastic and recycled.
The cost of manufacture would only be a couple of dollars anyway.
I buy computer batteries printer cartridges just about no complaints.

Re: Jeep service costs

Lots of fun at the dealer today for my 50k service. For those that have not been reading along I had vastly differing quotes - $750 at Narellan, $560 at Castle Hill and $420 at Blacktown. In the end I went with Castle Hill although I was warned by Natasha (Narellan) to check that the transmission fluid / service were included. So when I booked with Castle Hill I made the point to ensure the transmission was included and they had the fluid available. Yep – all good I was told, fluid was available, cost confirmed.
So when I went in and dropped off the car, low and behold the transmission service was not noted on the service schedule. When I mentioned this to the service guy he looked at me blankly and I had to show him the transmission was included in the book. In the end he agreed to include the transmission and honour the quoted price of $560, but he was pretty unhappy about being caught out. He had to get the fluid sent over from Nepean.
I also noted the brake booster recall – he wanted to know how I knew about it – told him I saw it in the media. Also problem with number plate lights and rear demister not working and airbag warning light coming on and the aircon fan is noisy.
So back I go at end of the day, still updating software, so I wait.
Well, waddayaknow. The brake recall isn’t done – need to order parts. Maybe available by end of week (!).
Demister confirmed no power but not fixed – ran out of time. Airbag light which was intermittent is now on permanently, so not fixed. Aircon fan checked but need to remove – so not fixed. But they managed to put a new bulb in the number plate light.
Used Castrol Magnatec Pro10W30 – discounted to $55 to keep under the $560 quote.
Trans fluid $148
Trans filter $42
Oil filter $64
So I need to rebook when the brake booster recall part comes in. But Ill drop back in tomorrow to let them have another crack at the airbag light.
Lesson is you really need to check what is included in a “book” service – Castle Hill don’t know and will need your help.

Re: Jeep service costs

Awesome, they scare me.
I would have been surprised if the brake booster recall could have been dealt with.
As for end of next week for that, I'm calling bullshit, and the real answer is that they don't know. Jeep will have an issue supplying parts to fix that many vehicles and ultimately it isn't critical, so they will be coming on the slow boat too.

Re: Jeep service costs

So given this experience GMWK2, does that sway you towards Narellan for future services?

Re: Jeep service costs

Re brake booster recall,

Reading recall notice, it says "This recall applies only to the above vehicles built through September 08, 2013". What the hell does it mean by through Sep 08 2013? Up until or from the date?

Ok SJandL, go on - you can say "I told you so" if you like.

After telling my wife about Castle Hill she said I'm not allowed to go there anymore....
