Re: Jeep service costs

You guys scare me with your dealer stories. The most scary part is that I purchased my MY14 from Castle Hill and they added 5 year mechanical protection plan at no cost to my purchase to sweeten the deal.

Lucky after reading the fine print on the protection plan I decided the added cost of having the vehicle serviced in Sydney did not justify what the plan would actually cover.

I know you won't believe me, but I did not have that thought in my head when I asked the question.

I can't say 'I told you so' because I didn't advise you against Castle Hill in the first instance.

All I have ever done is post good reviews about Narellan, Natasha and the team and said I would not change for the sake of some savings.

I guess I just wanted to know whether Narellan has gained another customer is all.

My first test drive was in July last yr at Castle Hill. It's whole sales team incl. sales manager were new. I asked some Qs about JGC, and was told by them "don't know, we only sell car". I never went back to the dealership since. Hope it's not the same guys from whom u bought it.

If ever in doubt, go here - https://www.moparownerconnect.com/oc...nersLogin.aspx
Once you have set your account up which includes your VIN, it will list any recalls affecting you.

I did that check a while ago. Didn't display any recall for my VIN. Not sure it's because mine not affected indeed or the check database is not comprehensive.

Interesting that when I checked the recall with Castle Hill with the VIN they had in their system they initially told me that my GC was not affected. But when I checked against the VIN in my service book turns out they had the BIN wrong - an A instead of a 4.

Yet again - you cannot assume anything and must double check anything JA tell you.

Lesson is you really need to check what is included in a “book” service – Castle Hill don’t know and will need your help.
Airbag light is a symptom for a faulty clockspring - Have you lost / losing functionality of other functions on the steering wheel?

The scary thing is that as far as I can see the engine oil the dealer used doesn't come within a bulls roar of the Chrysler specification for the engine.......
It isn't even a full synthetic oil, or suitable for vehicles fitted with DPF.
In my opinion that is just shifty business practice.

Extract from the tech data from the web
"Application
Castrol Magnatec Professional A3 10W-30 is suitable for use in a wide range of automotive petrol and diesel engines and where the manufacturer recommends an ACEA A3/B4, A3/B3, API SN/CF or an earlier specification 10W-30 lubricant.
Castrol Magnatec Professional A3 10W-30 is approved for use in VW Group vehicles that require a VW 501 01/ 505 00 specification 10W-30 and Mercedes vehicles that require a MB-Approval 229.1 specification 10W-30 lubricant.
Castrol Magnatec Professional A3 10W-30 is very well suited for Toyota workshop applications as it is suitable for most petrol and diesel vehicle applications. Not recommended for engines fitted with DPF."

Good catch John, a very important! GMWK2, I would write to Castle Hill with copies to Chrysler Aust., the NRMA and your favourite 4x4 mag, demanding the oil be replaced immediately with a complying oil and that Castle Hill accept responsible for any premature damage to the DPF. If they want to play sill buggers, get your lawyer to send another letter. A phone call may fix your problem but it won't fix everybody else's.

Sitting in dealer right now while they check the airbag. Should I be worried about the oil - mine is a MY12 so I didn't think the DPF was an issue for me.
