Re: Jeep service costs

I tend to agree with Enforcer as Parts in automotive market have colossal mark up, a huge profit being made. Ryco or Wesfil filters are not genuine, but nevertheless both meet standard prescribed by jeep. Using it won't cause a dent in warranty. Engine oil is different story as MOBIL ONE ESP is the only one meet jeep standard.

Re: Jeep service costs

I haven't seen anyone here use Pennzoil Ultra Euro L full synthetic 5W-30 motor oil, cheaper than Mobil 1 ESP. It's available locally

Re: Jeep service costs

From who? Shell took over Pennzoil and ceased bringing it in.

You can even buy the Aus domain name if you like - http://www.pennzoil.com.au/

I looked for Pennzoil and couldn't find a supplier. Where have you sourced it?

Gllubricants. The web said Sold Out. They've ordered more stock. I think they started stocking Pennzoil recently. I checked a few months ago, only saw Mobil One ESP.

Good find..

http://www.gllubricants.com/index.ph...&product_id=94

On the surface seems to have all the certifications including MS-11106.

Re: Jeep service costs

I wouldn't touch Shell with a barge pole after the shifty way they changed the formulation of the Helix Ultra Extra (this oil also carried the Chrysler MS11106 approval), in 2012 such that it no longer was able to claim the approval, without addressing the fact that their published specs showed the oil with the approval.
You can still find this information against this oil 2 years after the change.
Myself and others have communicated with Shell Technical Services and posted on this before, and the fact Pennzoil is Shell links the product as far as I am concerned.
The small amount of money saved (~$100 per 10,000k), is peanuts compared to the potential issues using an oil that may lay down carbon and coke inside the working bits of your vehicle.
Sorry, I just don't understand the thinking.
John

Re: Jeep service costs

You’re assuming the same has happened to the Pennzoil, but haven’t actually seen a bottle, so the hate on it is a little premature. As this is not being imported by Shell Aus, and is a direct import of the US product, then it is more likely to still have the MS-11106 in-tact. A quick email to GL will result in an answer once they get more stock.
Plenty of US CRD owners are using the Pennzoil for this very reason, it has MS-11106.

I was hopeful but I can't see the MS-11106 on the spec sheet

It's got to be the Pennzoil Platinum European Ultra Diesel 5W-30.
