A quick email to GL will result in an answer once they get more stock.
Plenty of US CRD owners are using the Pennzoil for this very reason, it has MS-11106.
"Hate" is a pretty strong word, please don't use it in relation to any attitude of mine.

Pennzoil is Shell, I can't see how they would have a product packaged as Pennzoil, and not have a Shell equivalent.
The Pennzoil referred to has the same specification as the "old" Shell Helix Ultra Extra that now uses a different base and hence cannot claim the approval.
Plenty of information on data sheets however that still show the Ultra Extra has the approval.
It all boils down to how much confidence you can have in the product that goes in your engine.
My communications with Shell did not give me a sufficient degree of comfort that would extend to another of their related products.

Re: Jeep service costs

For closer reference the other thread outlines more about MS-11106

"The new Chrysler MS 11106 spec adds another requirement above and beyond the MB 229.51. MS 11106 oils must also meet requirements for both the TEOST MHT test and TEOST 33C. The MHT requirement is there to reduce piston ring land coking and the 33C requirement is there to reduce turbo coking. I would suspect that any failure of these components during the warranty period would invite a pretty thorough investigation that the oil used met the MS 11106 requirement."

That is why I listed this
"Pennzoil Platinum® European Ultra Diesel 5W-30 meets API SL/CF, ACEA C3, A3/B4-08, MB Approval – 229.51, BMW LL-04, VW 505 01, Chrysler MS-11106"

Which is on the GL site.

I think there may be an issue with site words versus actual container spec compliance.

I actually was the one who found shell ultra removal of spec compliance on containers but site still claimed compliance.

Seeing is believing. Once they have more pennzoil in, I will go there personally, and if everything is as shall be, I'll buy it over the counter

Jeep service costs

Well I got a response to my email and it seems to confirm that the euro variant is the only one compliant. That wouldn't seem to be available in Australia. The text on the Gl site covers the range of oils, even 5W-20 and is not particular to the variant they are selling; which is the Platinum variant.
.............
We believe you mean Chrysler specification MS-11106, and no, Pennzoil Platinum Full Synthetic Oil SAE 5W-30 does not meet that requirement.* Instead, you would need to use our Pennzoil Ultra Euro L Full Synthetic Oil SAE 5W-30 for the requirement.

Thank you for your interest in Shell/Pennzoil/Quaker State Lubricants!

Re: Jeep service costs

Just had 20k service at Mackay $612, queried price as was quoted $575 in Townsville but couldn't get in for over 2 weeks, I was told they have a higher hourly rate was also told they rotated tyres but when I got home checked and they hadn't, so will be ringing. Incredible how much the price varies for basically an oil change and a few inspections, dearer than my bmw.
